Katie's Bill Passed Wednesday in the Oklahoma House of Representatives by an overwhelming 99-2 vote. The bill will allow clinical trials for a cannabidiol oil, or CBD, that comes from a marijuana plant.

The medicine helps children who suffer from severe seizure disorders.

Rep. Jon Echols, of Oklahoma City, sponsored the bill and named it after his 10-year-old niece who has seizures.
"She started having seizures when she was six months old. I've seen them," said Nichols. "I've been around them. They've happened in my home."

The lawmaker's niece was at the Capitol to watch the debate.

The republican lawmaker says the medicine would have a very small amount of THC and would not get children high.

Rep. Echols says current medicine on the market can be very dangerous.

"One of the side effects is sudden unexpected death."
