Roseville, CA - A marijuana-processing operation exploded in an apartment garage Saturday afternoon, leaving one person with serious injuries. At 5:47 p.m. Saturday, December 4, Roseville Police and Fire personnel responded to a reported explosion in a detached garage building, at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Gibson Drive. Several garage units were damaged by the blast and two had doors blown off. Officers found evidence that someone had been cooking marijuana to manufacture hashish, and the butane used for the heat source exploded. A male in his early 30s with burn injuries was seen fleeing from the area. Roseville Police searched the area extensively, but were unable to locate the injured person.

At 11:42 p.m., residents of an apartment in 700 Gibson Drive came home and found blood in their apartment, and one of the interior rooms locked from the inside. They notified Roseville Police. Officers responded to the apartment and located the injured person from the explosion, unconscious, with self-inflicted cuts as well as severe burns. It appeared that he had entered the residents' apartment through a sliding glass door. He was transported by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center. He is considered a suspect in the drug-manufacturing operation as well as unlawfully entering the residents' apartment, but is not under arrest at this time due to his injuries.
