Marley's Former Road Manager Convicted On Ganja Charge

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Tues. July 3, 2007: The former road manager of late reggae icon, Robert Nesta Marley, was yesterday sentenced to 18 months for planning to export almost 300 pounds of ganja.

Allan "Skill" Cole was convicted of drug trafficking in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court some five years after Jamaican police found some 136 kilograms of the drug in his east Kingston home.

Cole, 57, Bob's close friend and a former Jamaican football coach, was however, released on US$30,000 bond pending an appeal by his attorney.

Cole is credited with writing at least one Marley's hit songs. —
