Martok's First Grow: 30 Mystery Seeds Grow Journal, Fall 2020

Finally, an update on the 4x4. Pleased with the plants shape; they’re more bush-like than their sisters in the 3x3.

However one has been showing signs of clawing in the leaves, is this nitrogen toxicity or a pH problem?

I believe these are about 3.5 weeks into flowering.

roger that’s what I’ve come to accept as too much N, where the tips claw down. But one thing kinda caught my eye too is the next to last pic - how the plant in lower right corner has cupped under or taco down leaves near the top, where the edges of leaves roll down and under. I’ve seen that before and think mine was associated with fungus gnats or mites too. Do you have loupe & maybe can snip a few leaves scope front & back for mite eggs? Have you seen anything flying over canopy or landing in foliage or top of soil?

back off N but continue PK, also are you using cal-mag? You should be just on bloom nutes now, not sure what GH schedule calls for but I would reduce the grow nutes or maybe stop altogether.

are you feeding every time or do you use any plain water sessions?

I haven’t seen any sign of a gnat or anything like it for at least 2 months since I applied the organic pesticide I had. I do have a loupe so I’ll check the leaves for eggs or anything. I haven’t noticed any damage either on the leaves like anything is feasting on it.

Ive been giving them alternating nutrients and cal mag every other water, so about every 10 days. I still need to get some funds together to get some nutrients without the N, which I think might help. I think backing off the nutrients would be prudent for the time being until I figure out what’s up.

Good deal. I constantly keep an eye towards critters and IPM in my garden. Its like whack a mole every time I find something and kill it, then another outbreak pops up... seems I alternate between fungus gnats and spider mites. But I’m outdoors a lot plus have dogs - so yeah.

There are ways to get there cheap on nutes I’m not the best but trying to learn. However I’m doing Los and avoid most bottle nutes except fish ferts. But like with mega crop they keep feeding the same nute all the way from seedling to harvest with 1 nute. The new dry series from gel flora is kinda similar, top dress with an organic dry nute every 2 weeks and water it in. Pretty crazy stuff but both are working well from what I see on the boards here.

there used to be a deal on mega where if you pay shipping the sample is free, think it’s enough for 4 plants from seed to harvest. think its still offered on green leaf website. In their case the N is already there but the plant only takes what it needs and the level of N is such that it don’t burn. For now you don’t want to switch to that midstream but might be something to consider for next round. If that’s the case we can get MrKrip or MrSauga to you help out, both have very keen eye for this. Scroll thru journal below for Bmensi brand spanking new grower, getting ready to chop any day now - first time mega crop user, first ever plant too I think, really nice crop! An update on the 4x4 for my pal @Plant Daddy, my apologies for the radio silence. School has been kicking my butt . They’re coming along nicely, I just fed them today with a cal-mag supplant and bloom nutrients that had 0 for nitrogen. We’re right at 5 full weeks into flowering and starting Week 6 today.

I don't know what I was looking at... now I see posts that weren't here before.... lol Not even stoned yet. Plants are looking good Brother.

We’re 7 weeks, 6 days into flowering with these. Under the jewelers loupe they are getting very close. One is starting to show amber on some trichomes on the sugar leaves. The rest are shifting to that cloudy color and there’s less clear trichome heads. They’re definitely taking water faster than I realized, but it’s def been a nail biter watching these get close to harvest. I’m excited to start my next grow with what I’ve learned.

leaves are definitely dying off and I’m trying to wait until I absolutely have to harvest before the buds get any damage.
