ACTION ALERT: HEARING ON HB1043
House Bill 11-1043 is this years' medical marijuana bill. It was introduced
in the state legislature by Sen. Pat Steadman (D-Denver) and Rep. Tom
Massey (R-Poncha Springs).
The bill designed to "clean up" some of the problems with the medical
marijuana legislation (HB 10-1284) passed by the legislature last year.
However, it fails to address any of the core issues facing patients, like
patient privacy. CTI met with Sen. Steadman in January, and he refused to
add any language to this bill that would protect patient privacy rights or
to protect any other patient rights, saying such legislation "wouldn't

Steadman and Rep. Massey and ask them to insert language to protect patient
medical privacy.
Sample Letter to House Judiciary Committee
"I urge you to insert language into House Bill 11-1043 that will protect
patient privacy. The Department of Revenue is forcing patients to give up
their Constitutional right to privacy by requiring Medical Marijuana
Centers to videotape and photograph patients as they purchase medicine and
to keep track of all of that information in a database open to law
enforcement on demand. Patients will not shop at MMCs if there privacy
rights are not protected. Please help preserve confidential access to
medical marijuana for all of Colorado's sick and dying patients."
