The "Hemp Car" is a Mercedes Benz diesel wagon that runs on hemp oil instead
of petroleum-based diesel fuel:

Hemp oil is a biodiesel fuel that can be used directly in any existing,
unmodified diesel engine! Biodiesel fuels can also be made of other
vegetable oils or animal fats.
Believing that industrial hemp would be an economical fuel if hemp were
legal to cultivate in the United States, the Hempcar organizers
hempcar.org is almost here! plan to spread the word of hemp-fuel at stops in both
the U.S and Canada. They also hope to win a world distance record for a
vehicle utilizing hemp for fuel by traveling 10,000 miles. The car will
depart from Washington D.C. on July 4, 2001 and return on October 2, 2001.

Hempcar intends to provide the public with information about biofuels, hemp,
their uses, and current American laws. Unlike its cousin marijuana,
industrial hemp has no psychoactive properties and is not a drug.
