Mexico City's mayor is introducing a national initiative in congress to legalize cannabis-based medical treatments in the entire country.

Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera says the initiative would not legalize production or distribution of medical marijuana in Mexico, rather give Mexicans access to medicinal products manufactured outside the country.

He said Wednesday the initiative is a matter of public health and aimed to allow patients access to proven remedies that are legal in other countries for various illnesses and ailments.

Mancera said if morphine-based medicines are legal, cannabis-based medicines should be as well.

His proposal will require modifying two articles in the public health law, he said at a forum announcing the initiative.

I wonder which pharmaceutical company payed Mayor Mancera for this.... sad.

That may very well be true brother, but when peoples lives are at stake, does it really matter? It's really irrelevant how people get to use this medicine legally, the only thing that matters is that they get to use it to help their suffering...right?

Do I agree with persuasion on the basis of greed? No way bro, never! But my overwhelming desire for compassion and healing far exceeds my hatred of corruption and bias persuasion...if that makes sense?

I guess I might agree if the foreign medicinal products actually worked. Or they helped lead to legalization.

In my opinion. acess to THC and CBD extracts or synthesized THC is not on the road to cannabis legalization anymore than access to methadone leads to legalization of a traditional plant extract also on Schedule 1.
