The Niles City Council is raising the limit on the number of medical marijuana facilities that could operate in the city's industrial park.

After Monday night's adjustment, four facilities can open in the industrial park, doubling the current amount.

These facilities are different than dispensaries, which are still capped at two.

The change is one step in making regulations that would authorize and lay out zoning requirements for medical marijuana businesses in Niles.

This process began in March, when the city voted to allow medical marijuana businesses to open in Niles.

If the drafts are approved, license applications are expected to be available in December.
