A medical-marijuana dispensary in Blackman Township is giving away one free joint for every two food items donated for its food drive.

Canna Care, 2000 W. Ganson St., is currently hosting the food drive and plans to donated the collected food to the Salvation Army and Jackson Interfaith Shelter.

Medical marijuana patients will receive a free pre-rolled marijuana joint for every two non-perishable food items they bring into the business.

Area law-enforcement officials did not know if Canna Care could legally hold this kind of food drive and deferred comment to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka was not available for comment Friday afternoon.

Hours for Canna Care are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
