More Than 700 Pounds of Marijuana Seized Over The Weekend

Border Patrol Agents working in Southern New Mexico seized more than 700 pounds of marijuana in three seizures over the weekend. The first happened Saturday at the highway 54 checkpoint near Alamogordo. Agents stopped the driver of a semi-truck and noticed several duffle bags that were covered in the cab of the semi. A K-9 confirmed their were drugs inside the bags. Agents found at total of six bags with 282 bundles of pot inside the bags. The estimated street value of the pot is $245,040.

On Sunday, agents working near highway 23 near Lordsburg found three people sleeping in a bush. Agents say they found three large bundles of pot buried in the sand. The drugs weight 142 pound and have an estimated street value of $113,792.

Border Patrol agents found 287 pounds of marijuana near highway 9 a day before.

Border Patrol agents in the El Paso sector have seized more than $94-million worth of drugs so far this year.
