It's been quite awhile since my last post on here. I've been spending most my time journaling on Instagram but unfortunately my account was recently disabled. So now I've decided to come back to my roots. This site was a huge help for me I when first started several years ago and I feel like I owe them for all the success I've been able to achieve. In my eyes I'm still a rookie trying to learn the ropes but I have learned quite a bit so far and would love to share my knowledge and garden with you all again. With that said lets get down to the details of what I'm running and my garden plan for 2016.

My setup currently consists of 5 grow tents and 2 wire racks.

The tents include:

1 - 4 x 8 w/ 2 600 watt lights (1 hps/1 mh), 6in inline exhaust/ 6in carb filter, 4in inline intake/ 4in carb filter, and 3 box fans. Flowering 18 5gal.

1 - 4 x 4 w/ 1 600 watt hps, 6in inline exhaust/ 6in carb filter, 4in inline intake/ 4in carb filter, and 1 box fan. Flowering 9 5 gal.

2 - 2 x 4 w/ 1 300w LED ea, 6in duct fan exhaust, and passive intake. 1 6in osc clip ea. Veg 8 1gal or 3 gal ea.

1 - 2 x 5 w/ 3 4ft T8, 4in duct fan fan exhaust, and passive intake. Used for breeding seeds.

The wire racks inlcude:

1 - 4 x 7 divided into 3 shelves w/ 6 T12 shop lights. Each shelf holds 12 1/2 gal veg plants.

1 - 3 x 6 divided into 2 shelves. 1 w/ a 2ft 4 bulb T5 over 6 1 gal veg plants. 1 w/ a 2ft 2 bulb T5 over a 36 site aero cloner.

The System:

My system is based off harvesting 9 5 gal plants every 3 weeks. Everything starts at the aerocloner. I use straight water and get enough root mass for transplant within 14 days. The plants are then moved to a dixie cup with an organic soil mix I've been recycling and reamending for over 2 years. I use this mix from start to finish in addition to Advanced Nutrients, compost teas, mycos, and IPM foliar sprays

After usually 2 weeks in the dixie cup the plants are transplanted to a 1/2 gal pot where they are vegged for another month. Its important to note that I do top dress these plants with a wood chip mulch I've also been recycling for several years.

One month later the plants are moved to 1 gal pots where they spend 2 weeks beneath fluorescent lighting and 2 weeks under LEDs for flower prep. They are topped and heavily LST'd during this time.

After a total of 3 months veg time (including cloner time), the plants are transplanted to 5 or 4 gal plastic pots and moved into flower. Once in flower they are lst'd up until day 20, lollipopped, and depending on strain tomato caged.

All of the strains currently in our garden finish in 9 weeks or less. Currently we have the following:

Gigabud
Lemon Thai Kush
Mystery Orange Bagseed
Northern Lights x Skunk #1
Pineapple Express
Purple Bagseed
Quantum Kush
Rollex Og Kush
Strawberry Fields
Tangilope

A Note About Seeds:

One important thing I have learned about seeds and seed companies is the importance of having multiple phenotypes to choose from. When I was first starting out I was so focused on vairety that I got a lot of single seeds. Many were reputable strains from reputable companies but a lot of them were disappointing. After meeting several breeders and purchasing large packs from them in person I was able to grow several versions of each strain and I quickly learned there can be huge differences in quality. This became the most clear to me when I discovered 4 phenotypes of the strawberry fields. 3 of them were good but 1 of them was REALLY good. Now I'm also starting to learn the importance of selecting male phenotypes for my personal breeding projects.

Breeding Project:

Ever since I first saw a bean when I was 14yrs old I dreamed of creating my own strain but I never tried before until now.

About 6 mos ago we had a male of Rollex og kush pop up and I knew we had to keep him because the Rollex is an amazing strain. I didn't have the room to breed at the time so I ended up killing him and taking a clone hoping that one day I would have room. Well after 3 generations of male clones last month a friend gifted me an additonal grow tent. I set it up as soon as I got home. Inside I put a 1 gal Rollex Og Male and 8 1/2 gal females of the following strains:

Mystery Orange Bagseed
Purple Bagseed
Gigabud
Quantum Kush
Lemon Thai Kush
Tangilope
Rollex Og (female)
Strawberry Fields

The male began releasing pollen 3 days ago. The tent is on a homemade wheel cart and has been moved to another room. Im trying 3 methods. I have tin foil wrapped around the base of the plant to catch falling pollen. I placed a clear plastic bag over a single branch. And Ive also tipped the male sideways above the females and shook it for good measure lol. Im hoping to save pollen for later use and open pollinate the current girls.

I plan to grow several seeds of each cross to identify a desirable phenotype. From there I will be able to keep the genetics in clone form. I will also work on back crossing to stabilize the genectics. I will be experimenting with the Rollex's too by creating more seeds between the male/female and possibly finding a better phenotype then my current one.

The Plan for 2016:

My plan for 2016 is to keep searching for elite strains, expand my grow knowledge, and to help as many people as I can to get the medicine they need.

Through this journal I hope to give you all glimpse of my journey and to follow all of you as we begin the year that will go down in history as the last of year of prohibition and the beginning of a new era of cannabis.

Goodluck to you all and hope you enjoy the show!

Rosin

Over the last several months we have been converting from winterized BHO to rosin.

There are tons of tutorials out there about making rosin so I just wanted to share my process and some tricks I've learned.

The biggest factor for my pressing is the moisture content of the bud. I measure this with a hygrometer in my curing jars. I've found the ideal humidity is 65% - 70%. And the best time to press for me is usually 5 - 7 days after harvest.

Here is this mornings press. This is a small nug of Quantum Kush. I usually yield 24% off this strain in a single press. This particular bud was harvested on 12/17/15 and has a humity level of 67%.

I always roll my nugs into compact balls and then cold press them into a pancake between 2x4's. Ive also done this method with stickier trim.

I fold my parchment paper to direct the flow of oil to one area for easier collection.

Here is my homemade press. Its a $25 Revlon straightner and a $30 Irwin 600lb clamp. Just melted the plates into the rubber.

Usually press at 200 for 20 - 30 secs. The steam carries oil up away from the plates.

Beneath the parchment is a small marble pot holder that I stick in the freezer to make collection a lot easier.

I usually press daily and have also tried pressing bubble hash, dry sift, and fresh frozen. There is definitely a higher wax content but the flavor is phenomenal and we prefer natural plant waxes to solvents.

Checked on the breeding tent this morning and took some shots.

Here are all the girls. I purposely kept them small just for seed production. Most are in 1/2 gal pots.

Have a few pics to share today from the last week in the garden.

First up is a few pics of our first harvest for 2016.

We ended up taking down 8 strawberry fields with 4 different phenotypes and 1 tangilope. The plant shown is 1 of the the strawberry fields.

Hope all is well in your world.

Is this grow still alive?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.
