Multi Strain, Perpetual, Capn Style, Multi Room

I haven't watched your last video yet Skybound, because of internet service issues, I just catch up with them when I can. So unless I missed something about this, which I doubt, I'm just amazed that you never had any mold issues in there with that crazy humidity and lack of much proper air circulation. Did you just get lucky this way and pull through by the skin of your teeth, or...........what????

That's how I solved all my issues, I added circulation from inlet air every other 15 minutes and exhaust 24/7 into a carbon filter and humidity is now a near constant 42% and odor is always being escorted to the carbon filter. Also shown in the video is my bud washing process that begins first with an H2O2 plunge for 20-30 seconds to kill any residual spores that may have went dormant weeks ago followed by a lemon juice/baking soda mix (1 cp ea) in a 5gal, then 2 rinse stages before left to drip dry for 20 minutes. Once all loose water has fallen or otherwise released from me whipping the branches some, I trimmed and washed for 9 solid hours and had to quit. Next day I put in like 7 hours and passed out, and finished the haul on the 3rd day. The wash process does add some time and in my case labor from lumping water down steps etc, but washing buds is so worth the added efforts and I do believe that in the near future when the govt gets involved with cultivation, it will become a mandatory practice. I went through a few suspected nugs with a good light and a scope and saw no webbing of any form, or anything else that would be visually off or out of place. All that aside though, aside from the many samples I've taken from her along the way, I still have 10.5 zips dry and 33.5 grams dry ice hash to play with. This strain I now know with little doubt to be Sage and Sour from TH Seeds, a freebie from Herbies with one of my orders. The stone is nice, Almost like a zone of pure concentration, like in the movie "Limitless" as it makes me play COD like a prodigy when gaming, when I usually always do relatively bad. There are a fair amount of pain management properties as well as my swollen joints went from a mild roar to a quiet whisper. The flavor I am not the biggest fan of now, but with time to cure, I believe it will improve. Assuming the "sour" in "sour diesel" is the reason for that odd taste, than I am at a loss as to why so many people rave for SD? Could be the S.A.G.E. side of the family though. Good yielding strain, relatively resistant to humidity stress and cold, but a bit hissy for nute concentrations. My Cherry Bomb's don't like going over 900 ppm, but this Sage and Sour down right throws a hissy fit if left to wander to higher concentrations. I haven't preserved these genetics.

The first of 2 Cherry Bomb's is coming down in a few days. Her every nug is dense and solid, many of which are larger than pine cones.

Nice nice nice.
It was that video before you got over the hurdle. When you had 80-90% RH, using recirculating air. Dripping wet. big buds everywhere I'm going with the skin of the teeth theory.

Not that it matters much now, but my water carrying days are over. Between yesterday and today, I plumbed from my RO tanks through the wall and stemmed a leg to site #1 and #3 (#2 can be teed in later if I do another. Today I purchased another bulkhead fitting and repurposed the reservoir of the first system I ever built and made it into a very slow emptying waste tub, so I can attach a hose to the feed pump and evacuate the spent nutes to the waste tub. I have ball valve at all the needed junctions so the RO tanks can isolate which res it will replenish/top off. The waste tub is connected to 1/4" tubing (like used for RO or refrigerators) and ran it down an exterior wall and into a sewer line. So now res changing will be near painless, and much quicker.

I will be taking down the first Cherry Bomb tomorrow and the remaining one can go another 10 or so days (+/-). After that I am looking to go outside for a while. Not sure if I will journal, but if anyone has a good affordable soil recipe, I'm all ears.

What's up y'all?!? This is going to be my last and final update to this journal. I failed royally in the perpetual department, but have gained so much more experience and equipment along the way, not to mention the meds that I can't help but feel this grow is still very much a success for me. I will continue to search out that ideal location where I can setup all my gear and know I can keep the lights burning year round, and I will make whatever sacrifices I need to to achieve that goal.

My first of 2 Cherry Bombs that I harvested has netted me 530 dry grams of thick, colorful, incredibly dank nuggets. I was confident this plant, despite of having undergone severe transplant shock her first day in 12/12, plus also having a very large grouping of branches snapped off early in bloom, she still saw fit to give me 530 dry grams (19 zips) of quality nugs. She also yielded 28.5 grams of dry ice hash (220 micron) and about 5 more grams of some greener stuff that I believe to contain high amounts of plant matter as everything dries in the dry ice to a powder form, of very fine pepper at the biggest.
IMG_20150414_202429_973.jpg

There's no way in hell Cherry Bomb #2 will do that well as she has undergone her own stressful trials and is expressing her dissatisfaction very much = weaker phenotype. She still has about 3 or less weeks left to finish, but I can't foresee her giving more than 12 zips or less, so I won't even add that to the journal, hence why I'm now closing this journal.

My veg plants continue to flourish, and their canopies are exploding with growth. They will all be transplanted into soil and be relocated outside in about a month for my first guerrilla grow. The large Indica looking plant is my 2gen OG Kush clone (dinafem), the 2 Sativas are GDP Purple Dream, and the other odd ball in the back is a Power Flower cutting. All the rest I killed off to save materials and nutrients.

If this summer does not produce a new grow spot for me, expect my journal to start late September for a quick update on veg stats, then another round of bloom up in the skyCave. I have some Bubblicious beans, and Bubblegum beans that I definitely want to grow. I also will probably stop over herbiesHeadShop to get some new genetics going as well. Maybe some Buckeye Purple, a strain that grows very purple buds. I'd love to see a ziplock stuffed with pastel meds.

In the meant time, I will be trolling journals and adding when I feel I can. I am also making great advances in my automation project and believe I will have a basic prototype to share for free in about 1-2 months. I'm building a box to hold 8 duplex outlets, each fitted to a 10 amp relay, on an 8 channel relay module. There will also be a temp/humidity sensor (small white thing that looks like microphone) mounted on the exterior. An extension cord will bring power from any receptacle to the project box, and a run of Ethernet wire will carry internet access and the power needed to run the Arduino and relay modules. I am also trying to learn how to design just a simple web page to host the data information, but I will build upon that with future phases of my project. But as far as I'm concerned, this phase 1 is still going to be an internet accessible complete room hydroponics controller with a very precise Real Time Clock (round thing on bread board next to Arduino) that will be used to ensure that the lights cycle according to my predefined time schedule, and my feed pumps will also march to the same beat. Fans can be triggered based upon atmospheric conditions (high temps or RH). My heater can also be triggered based on low temps.

I get very irate that the world is so complex and our people are so compartmentalized which brings on bureaucracy. To combat this, I learn mind numbing stuff with intent to simplify it to be freely shared to the next man so his mind can stay thawed. To better hone in on that point, code writers (coders) on the Arduino forum are perplexed that I express that it is not my desire to learn coding to the utmost degree. I'm just learning enough to build this project, so I guess my attitude keeps a few potential helpers at bay because I don't want to devote the rest of my life to coding, not do I wish to put myself into a compartment. We're better for each other when we stay out of that box anyways! So please continue to look in on my Automation blog every now and again. This phase 1 will enrich everyone's growing controls exponentially!

Edit - just noticed the sensor in the pic didn't make it into the frame. If you want to still see it, check my blog, it's all over the place in there.

Journal CLOSED!!!

Hope all is well in your world.

Thanks for sharing this grow with us.

Please head over to the 420 Strain Reviews forum and post your smoke report there too.

I’m moving this to Completed Journals now.

Have you started a new grow you would like to share with us?

If so, please feel free to start a new journal here: Journals in Progress

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.

I'm not as, but still very disappointed that 3 was shot down as neighbors need options and I was looking forward to short day trips to oHIGHo. I swear the feds will give the thumbs up before most of these frightened state governments will.

Oh god yes. They're perrified! We shot our selves in the foot with division.
I didn't like a lot of how it was written, but it was a foot in the dpor. I even called all my friends that I knew were out of state to make sure they got on line to vote! Oh well. Maybe next year.

Thanks LEDRF! The sad part is I haven't grown anything since what was mentioned in this journal. I had to kill my veg plants, and my spot got too hot to risk another grow. I can only live vicariously through other people's grows on 420 and help where I can. I see many links in your sig. What's your most current thread? Is it on going? I'd love to jump on your ship if you'll have me.

What's up 420 fam, Skybound is back at it again!!! This time hopefully for real! Currently I have a small cabinet I built to use as a stealth nursery that measures 3' wide - 3' high and 2' deep. It has stealth inlet air, stealth exhaust, my old DIY CFL reflector that I am actually looking to upgrade to one of those large CFLs that sit in the e39 mogul base sockets that will gain me about another 6" of head room.

Temps hover from low to mid 70's with RH about 55-60%, but I expect this will decline as the winter pulls in. At the moment I have 3 Cherry Bomb fem plants that I grew out from seed. The B plant (of the A, B & C) is growing at a reduced rate and was pushing out even fingered leaves which had me concerned. Ever since I topped it though, it exploded with vigor so now I will let it live to see what it can do. I also had a random bean that I saved with my purchased beans. I believe it is Power Flower, but that might just be my best wishes. All plants were topped last week and transplanted up a pot size from 20 oz. Solo cups into 1 gallon pots, and I also created a new top feed system that the pots sit on, as opposed to down in. because the 3 gallon res I had previously made was allowing for the roots to grow out of the bottom of the solo cups and down into the nutes which WILL lead to pythium, and I refuse to travel that path again.

Of course I also feed the weekly Heisenberg Tea. Current 4 plant res is @ 300PPM and the PH is holding to near 6.0. If it gets above 6.2 I throw in a few drops of Flora Blend to pull it back down a few tenths. I change my res out the day after I feed the tea, but my poor organization skills has this to a floating schedule of 6-9 days, depending on distractions as I have many.

Tea Recipe
1 Gallon RO water
6 heaping tablespoons of Ancient Forest
3ml of Grandma's Molasses
5ml of Aqua Shield
0.5 grams of Great White Mycorrhizae

One week I experimented by adding Sweet Mycos Tea which was a mistake my kids thankfully survived. the SMT has it's own powdered molasses that really made my tea extremely frothy when it was bubbling, and though it likely had a large diverse colony of bennies, the unconsumed molasses could have easily lead to other problems in the media, but the following week's tea cleaned most of the rest up.

After my land lord comes from out of town to visit and inspect the property ((then leaves again)), I will pull this veg box out and frame a wall to cover the room it is in. This room is attached to my bed room and measures 5.5 feet wide, 5 feet deep and 7 feet floor to ceiling. This will be used for late veg and will likely include 2 parallel home made flood tables that each spills into a separate res to accommodate different strain nutrient preferences, i.e. Indica vs sativa. It will be given a single 400 watt Metal Halide air cooled hood that will will also be used to provide my room supplemental heat for the winter. In the event I am unable to manage the cold and "I lose the attic again", this room will then need to become the flowering room so I can come out the other end with at least something. In the beginning of the summer, I tasked to build a pretty big grow space in my attic, but due to unmanageable heat, I was forced to pull the plug on the entire operation, just 2 pages into a journal. It just goes to show that good intentions will only take one so far. Now at the other end of this summer, I will once again give my best effort to make the attic be as good as I can make it. I currently have two 600 watt Cool Tubes with XL reflectors to flower under, as well as what basically is 2 18" travel light movers. Hopefully I can space the tubes apart enough to also utilize that 18" travel and produce some better 1+ LB producing canopies. I am also intending on adding at least one more 600 watt tube, but preferably two as I now have most of the 25' length space in the attic to dedicate to flowering which would then make perpetual harvesting so much more achievable. Ultimately I aim for a harvest every 3 weeks, and with all the materials I still have to buy, the construction of the unbuilt rooms, strain and pheno hunting, managing the cold winter temps, honing my growing skills and dialing in my room, coupled with my other project of completely Automating my Grow Room with smartphone accessibility to handle problems remotely via wifi or 4g, I am prepared to accept that I have my work cut out for me and I won't go too hard on myself for at least the next 6 months.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, that my plant count has increased to 10 as I picked up 6 clones a few days ago when visiting a very good friend. I helped him construct a project for his situation and he gifted me some more potential to expand my variety. The cuttings are as follows;

1 - OG Kush (Dinafem)
1 - Cherry Bomb (Bomb seeds)
2 - Power Flower (Royal Queen)
2 - Grand Daddy Purple Dream (GDP)

I was also very fortunate to also be gifted some samples of the first 3, and though I am shying away from the strong Indicas for health reasons, I will say that the Power Flower and Cherry Bombs smoke very well, smooth to the taste, and very well pronounced to the palette. The Cherry bomb has an earthy, mild fuely taste with many different undertones of fruitiness in the smoke. It's a bit of a body stone, but the head lift is extremely enjoyable. The Power Flower also has similar tastes, just a bit less fruity and the stone is more for the head than anything. Just to get the best perspective of these samples, I boiled out my glass pipe so as not to bias the flavor as that is one of the most enjoyable parts of smoking for me. My room mates, both seasoned stoners said the OG Kush was the smoothest smoke they've tasted and both passed out maybe 20 or so minutes after that cypher. I knew the OG would ruin their day, but they were each unable to enjoy their football team's games yesterday as we have the football package and the OG was just too powerful. Haha!

And here is my grow notes for this past month followed by some pics.

dropped - 9/24/14
cubed - 9/26/14, 3xCB, 1xRandom, 0xWW

Tea brew - 9/27 @9am

Dunked cubes in tea 36 hours later, then transplanted into 20 oz. solo cups filled with Capn Crunch (croutons, but this is Capn style). 4 cups on a 3 gal res with about 2 gallons of pH 6.0/172 PPM to be fed twice daily. WW is abandoned. 9/28/14

I dropped PPM to 100 fed once daily shortly after.
PPM was raised to 200 on or near 10/12 or 10/13

Topped - 10/21
Transplanted 10/22
Received cuttings on 10/25 and transplanted on 10/26

I apologize for the lack of sequence in the order of my pics. I should have taken less and cataloged them better. I expect to update once weekly, maybe more if I feel the need. So grab a seat and please cross all fingers, toes, arms and legs and wish me luck for this voyage, I'm so tired of walking the plank Yarrrrr!
Ahoy there,
Looking forward to this. Thanks for the link.

I had K problems this time last year too as these winters get awfully dry. I'm quite sure my topping sessions have taken their toll as well in this less than perfect environment, the last session involved 6 cuts per plant. i'm about done topping I think as I want to get some into flower. Either case funds are too thin right now and can't make any more changes involving a purchase.
Another oh shit moment (not the first) while kicking back reading Sky's stuff...like a light bulb flickers. Yeah, it flickers, then goes right back out.
I have an open sump well that is always wet in the garden. Because of that, I always run a dehumidifier (4 years 24/7) dumping the bass fish every day. My r/h in the flower room today registered around 38%. Should I be sneaking my new guy self downstairs and shutting off the dehumidifier and finding my humidifier? Dang! Help a brother, who don't know better. :)

Hey Maritimer, in all my years, I've only made minimal effort to manipulate the RH. I mean I've taken electrical control pursuits to the furthest degree, I never actually invested in a good dehumidifier or AC unit until just now, but it's not filled yet so I can't use it, and likely won't need to till mid spring. That said, my girls just have to endure whatever my ambient is which is generally about 30% in deep winter to 75%-85% in July/August. I get some spike or drops here and there, but it was never in my ability to remedy, so I didn't stress about it and just tried to over compensate in other ways.

FYI, this thread I closed down 3 years ago, but I have my current journal in my signature above my lineup. What I've learned since then that is most applicable towards over compensating in other ways is to apply yourself to learning to read her roots by how she behaves up top. By mastering the drying of the root zone has translated into the best growth overall that I've witnessed in my version of hydro (potted rockwool) that also applies to soil. High RH or low RH, I never dealt with any severe plant losses.
