Marijuana: A misunderstood godsend
By: (name not being entered here online for saftey reasons)

The purpose of this article is to clarify some myths, point out the positives, and share the truth about a wonderful plant known as Cannabis. Some background as to why it was made illegal is that: in the early 1900s when communism was the hot-topic, the government saw this as an opportunity to connect it with marijuana. They used propaganda and even controlled some of the media to scare people into not smoking. That's when the first laws against it were made and eventually it grew across the country.

Before reading, know that these are MYTHS and NOT facts:

CLAIM No. 1: MARIJUANA USE IS INCREASING AT AN ALARMING RATE
CLAIM No. 2: MARIJUANA POTENCY HAS INCREASED SUBSTANTIALLY
CLAIM No. 3: MARIJUANA IS A DRUG WITHOUT THERAPEUTIC VALUE
CLAIM No. 4: MARIJUANA CAUSES LUNG DISEASE
CLAIM No. 5: MARIJUANA IMPAIRS IMMUNE SYSTEM FUNCTIONING

We have receptors in our immune system structure for cannabinoids which help normal immune system functioning.

CLAIM No. 6: MARIJUANA HARMS SEXUAL MATURATION AND REPRODUCTION

Marijuana actually stimulates sexual activity. Humans have cannabinoid
receptors in reproductive organs.

CLAIM No. 7: MARIJUANA USE DURING PREGNANCY HARMS THE FETUS
CLAIM No. 8: MARIJUANA CAUSES BRAIN DAMAGE

Studies have shown that marijuana may actually help stimulate the growth of brain cells by a 60% increase and helping reduce the risk Alzheimer's. The reasoning is that we have receptors in our brains and nervous system for cannabinoids and THC actually regulates nervous system control.

CLAIM No. 9: MARIJUANA IS AN ADDICTIVE DRUG
CLAIM No.10: MARIJUANA-RELATED MEDICAL EMERGENCIES ARE INCREASING
CLAIM No.11: MARIJUANA PRODUCES AN AMOTIVATIONAL SYNDROME
CLAIM No.12: MARIJUANA IS A MAJOR CAUSE OF HIGHWAY ACCIDENTS
CLAIM No.13: MARIJUANA IS A "GATEWAY" TO THE USE OF OTHER DRUGS

I have to comment on claim 13, since that's one of the biggest excuses people use to put down the use of marijuana. The only reason they made this claim is because of the black market that was created due to marijuana prohibition. Portugal (along with other places), for instance, no longer has a black market for drugs. Why? Because they decriminalized it and people can smoke freely and buy cannabis safely. They no longer need to be on the streets getting it and no longer have to be exposed to other drugs out there. In a place like the US where it's illegal for personal use, drug sellers can push harder drugs onto people, especially kids. Just because marijuana is the first thing most people try, doesn't mean it's a gateway drug.

Cannabis, or marijuana, contains ten different types of THC. The psychoactive form is Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol. Though, every part of the plant has its use. Immense medical value, industrial hemp, and food are all examples. Some people enjoy it recreationally or are social smokers.

Medical Value: You can be medicated by inhaling the smoke, or ingesting it orally. Marijuana relieves symptoms of many health problems. HIV/AIDS, cancer, nausea, insomnia, chronic pain, MS... the list could go on. Cannabis does contain carcinogens, which are cancer causing agents, but have never caused anyone to be diagnosed with it. Ironically, CANCER can be CURED with the use of MARIJUANA. The National Cancer Institute stated that, "cannabinoids found in cannabis selectively target and kill off cancer cells...leaving other cells still intact," —NIC Website. The cannabinoids in cannabis have shown remarkable promise. It's kind of like green tea. Green tea has the potential to cause kidney stones, but chemicals and amino acids that are in also help prevent kidney stones. The DEA also admitted to marijuana being a drug of a high medicinal value. It is also has been used in testing to treat depression. Although not much evidence exists, experts believe depression is caused from other problems in life (such as health issues that can be treated with weed or personal problems) and NOT cannabis. The relation between marijuana and depression can be eliminated by examining family and personal medical history, and weighing out other factors. Depression seems to be biological and runs in families. Another interesting fact is that marijuana has first been used by the Chinese 5000 years ago, and there has been nothing negative from it. Cannabis is a true godsend with too many benefits to count.

Recreational Use: Marijuana is used recreationally by millions of people every day. Is this a problem? The answer is no. There have never been any stories of people fighting or being angry when they are high, which is the complete opposite of alcohol. The recorded number of deaths from cannabis is a whopping ZERO. You cannot overdose. The worst that can happen is that you can pass out if you smoke or ingest too much, or have a severe case of the munchies, which is all that will happen. Smoking it, however, has been shown to damage lung tissue, but is far safer than tobacco. The amount of caused from smoking marijuana is irrelevant. Besides, there are other ways to inhale. For example, vaporizers heat the THC so it evaporates and keep the temperature right below what it would take to burn plant material. If you extract the THC with a substance highly concentrated with fat or alcohol, you can make foods and drinks (also called edibles and tinctures) that can be eaten as well and no smoking is required. Oils and rubs can be also made and some people even make their own THC pills. Marijuana makes people love and live stress free. The effects also increase your senses. Music is more enjoyable, the sandwich you just ate is the best in the world, everything feels good, and some people have even found it to increase their deep thinking. You become more focused and can actually understand things you never could have before. Everyone is different and it affects them differently but in the end, everyone has a great time.

Industrial Hemp: Hemp is marijuana with a very low THC percentage, around 1%. Not really anything to get someone high. It can be used in fabrics, food can made out of it (hemp cereal has a unique taste and is pretty enjoyable), automobile makers use it for the interior linings of cars, its ten times more fuel efficient than corn and clean burning, and has many health benefits as well. The seeds from hemp or marijuana plants are one of the best sources of macro-nutrients. One-fourth cup of hemp seeds contains 11 grams of protein, all 22 essential and non-essential amino acids and BCAAs (branch chain amino acids), omega fatty acids and unsaturated fat (the good fat). The seeds alone can be a major part of anyone's diet. Hemp is also more cost efficient and can grow in a decent range of climates, doesn't require much water or nutrients, and doesn't require a lot of work to take care of. It can grow 8-12 feet in 3-4 months: a true cash crop.

CONCLUSION: MARIJUANA HAS MANY USES AND BENEFITS AND IS SAFE IN VIRTUALLY EVERY WAY. IT CAN EVEN CURE CANCER AMONG MANY OTHER AILEMENTS.

Thank you haha . It's still going through revision and going to be updated with more information (possibly) . I also plan on making a more professionally written article on why it should be legalized , and why it possibly might not be . Medicinal use will definetely become legal , but on the street level , who knows . There's a lot against it but even more for it , so I'll start that article sometime soon and see what people think

Quite welcome, Good Sir! (does anyone else just really love talking like that?)

haha I think it breaks the monotony of things , like how i type with spaces between my punctuations .
