2 Hollands Hope in germination.

Dropped them in water as of 10/13/20

germination 10/14/20

Will be using rockwool for sprouting purposes

Then they will be places in cups with Fox Farm potting soil

Welcome to the fun house. Good luck.

So here are the fully germinated girls, my FF soil didn't come in on time so I planted them in organic soil.

My question to you guys is, when its time to transplant can I transplant into the fox farm soil?

@Farmer Bhang @Patient puffer @Emilya @013

Majority will tell you not to transplant into Ocean Forest because the medium is too hot, but ive been unruly as long as i can remember.... So heres what I do if all i have is FFOF... i cut it with coco and perlite for a 33.3% (1/3) mix of each... Ill drop my seeds right into it... If you have Happy Frog, which is my preferred for germinating seedlings ill go 75% with a quarter of perlite... Light Warrior or the Strawberry stuff i treat like FFHF... once im in full blown veg its all Ocean Forest for me baby... Hope it helps

All i have is organic soil and FFOC...so would using 33% of the organic and the rest FF work? i really dont wanna spend no more money lol

Looks like earth worm casting and some mycorrihza in it... Which is great... I would mix it all together 50/50 just to keep what you have consistent and you dont run out of one over the other... Not sure how that stuff retains water but im sure its not as packed with nutrients like FFOF... so If your not cutting it with perlite and your going straight soil mix after blending it all or however you decide... Water slowly so you dont compact the soil and you medium can breath and dont pack it when you transplant... Oxygen in soil is essential... Or go ahead and transplant right into FFOF... OF is champion soil...

Dont be afraid of the FFOF... it is not going to hurt your plants when you transplant...

This is how I determine when it is time to transplant:

I start off in smaller containers and successively move up, only because I am trying to restrict the growing space so that I can build the most dense root mass that I can achieve in each stage of the process. I start in solo cups, and I keep them in there way longer than most people do, because I am waiting for the plant to tell me when it has outgrown its space. I do this by monitoring the wet/dry cycle. When I find that I have to water a plant every day, that is because the roots have grown so strong in that space that the plant can suck up all the water I can get that soil to hold, in a day. When this happens, my 3-4 day buffer that soil should be able to provide is gone, and it is time to uppot to a container at least 3x as big. Then, monitoring the wet/dry cycle, I watch for the plant to once again reduce my buffer to 1 day, and then I repeat the process, until I finally get to my final sized container.

This is exactly how I gauge a need for transplant... For example today I'm transplanting because I'm watering daily in my solos... This is what my roots look like :

When you say Organic soil, what is it? A true organic medium does not require anything but water... If its an "organic" bag of miracle grow id be a skeptic... So define organic?
Organic means natural, not artificial. The MG with the fertilizer balls in it for 6months of growth, is full of synthetic nutes, but their "organic" line does not have this stuff in it. Organic as they are using the term does not necessarily mean that the soil has been mineralized, which is what would be needed to have a water only grow. There are many soils that claim to be organic, but most of them can not support a plant in bloom nor a vegging plant past 3 or 4 weeks because they have not been amended with the massive amounts of raw minerals that would be needed.

Agreed... My perception of MG for some reason equates to the likes of a toxic waste dump... That is extreme but somewhere I picked up a bias towards MG...
