My Never Ending Edible Thread

Hey everyone, SimpleMan here and welcome to my never ending journey to make top notch edibles. :yummy: My wife and I absolutely love everything about edibles from making the butter to putting the final touches on our end product. We make everything from breakfasts to deserts, and we try to be creative with our dishes so I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread and document what we do so we have a reference to look back on past dishes. I encourage anyone and everyone to jump in and share their knowledge and different recipes. So to kick this thread off we will be baking some simple organic cutout sugar cookies with 61.5 grams of white cookie shake/popcorn, 72 grams of lambs breath shake/popcorn, and 2 grams of bubble hash all decarbed and cooked into 6 sticks of salted butter.. now let me take this opportunity to say that my wife and I enjoy being launched into the stratosphere when we consume our edibles and do not like to eat a lot to achieve this. Haha We use different amounts depending on the dish and whether or not anyone else will be partaking.:passitleft:

So the cookies were a success, they are definitely potent but don’t have that nasty over powered taste that some meals get which I attribute to the sugar cookies. Lol I also cooked the 2 oz of LB and 2 oz of WC in separate pots with a gram of bubble and 3 sticks each so I could separate the leftover butter for morning and nighttime meals. Any questions let me know, and I’d also love to hear others recipes and experiences. :smokin:

Oh man, your ready to go! Hopefully I can inspire you, I’ve been cooking my smoke for the last 10 years. Lol My meals went to the next level though when wifey came along, she’s the real chef. :passitleft:

I would yes, you want as much sugar leaves and or buds as possible. That will ensure a better taste, also when I strain the butter I mainly let it gravity feed the butter out and when it’s done I just do a few tight pinches with a wooden spoon to get a good drain of the plant material. I think it’s important not to squeeze it dry to get every last bit, if you do that then it will have an overpowering taste in my experience.

Yes I have heard of blanching and have been utilizing that method for a long time. Although I usually only use it for fine cuisines, like pastas, lobster tails, crab legs, cheesecake, things like that. I have an amazing food dehydrator just for this purpose. Lol When it comes to pastries I usually do not blanch, as taste doesn’t matter to me when eating half a cookie, so it depends on the dish. Plus sugar cookies are great crushed into an infused milkshake... But I apologize to everyone for posting this in the wrong section. Maybe someone like @Old Salt could call a moderator in to move this thread to the appropriate section? That or I will discontinue commenting on this thread, if I could delete it I would but alas I don’t know how. I’m new to the site and could not find an edible section to post this in but I would like to keep this thread open if possible.

Thank you Ed, I appreciate that. I think the community would like to see some of the cool dishes we create.

You can do this yourself. Just use the 'Report' icon at the bottom of your post. It will bring up a dialog box, and away you go...

Thanks Teddy, you da man!

Hey friends! Back again with another edible run... we’re gonna keep it simple this time and do every ones all time favorite... you guessed it, the brownie. Lol .. However I am going to use this opportunity to showcase my blanching technique before we start getting into the more complicated dishes that require blanching, smoking, and other methods to create unique dishes. If anyone is unaware of what blanching is, this is a culinary technique that is used to “cleanse” vegetables and halt enzyme production resulting in loss of flavor which is great for removing that harsh overpowering taste you c an get with strong edibles. There are many methods of blanching... on this run we will be utilizing the cold water method, which entails boiling the cannabis for 3-5 minutes then straining the boiling cannabis and following it up with ice water to shock the material. Then lightly press the material to strain as much water out as possible, after completing this step I then move the cannabis to a dehydrator set to 160F and will run it until its dry enough to burn a joint.. or close to it. The time it takes to dehydrate the material depends on how much product you use. This run has taken roughly 3 hours to completely dry out. Once its been dehydrated, you can move forward as usual and decarb your bud ( I decarb my bud at 220F for about 45 minutes) ... Now this is where things differ a little, rather then doing a saucepan or saute type of butter infusion we will be using a french press. The french press can be used whether you blanch or not and it has alot of pros to using it. In my experience its must easier to manage cooking the butter when only worrying about topping off the boiling water, but it also makes for a much better textured butter, and I believe a more potent end product as its much harder to burn off any of the goodies your putting so much effort into cooking. I will leave you with that for now, I will post pictures later of the whole process. I hope you enjoyed the read and if you guys got any questions do not hesitate to ask me as im sure i left out some important tid bits of information. :420:

Edit: For this run I will be using 3 oz of white cookie shake, 7 grams of white cookie buds, 7 grams of lambs breath buds, 2 grams of kief, and 2 grams of bubble hash.

So here’s where we’re at so far... got another hour or two until the butter is finished and then we can bake the brownies... fun tip, has anyone heard of using sunflower lecithin with their edibles? It has many health benefits, such as it makes edibles much easier on the stomach to digest, improves heart health, lowers cholesterol... More importantly, in my case at least, lol it potentiates your edibles considerably and allows the high to come on much faster. If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend giving it a go atleast once if you enjoy powerful edible highs. It can be cooked into the recipe or taken as capsules.. I prefer to just take it as a supplement, but many enjoy using it as an ingredient.

Hi Simply Man, is that a 'french press' ?

Thanks, great idea I use one for coffee.
I think I'm getting another one for weed.
Very cool method. :thumb:
