stop watering all together till the plant drys, then just phed water no nutes yet then feed, water feed etc

The bitch about this is determining if the soil is actually dry enough to where the plant needs water. I haven't messed with it in two days. When I flushed it, I made sure there was quite a bit of drainage. I used 6.5 phed water. I think I used probably the whole thing maybe, which was a gallon. After that, I had watered them with 1/4 mix of nutes and sprayed the foliage with a nute mix. I think I just sprayed them yesterday with phed water to remove any build up on the foliage. I need to stop spraying the foliage while my lights are on. I maintain about 75-80 F temp. I think I have a few new yellow spots that could be due to spraying while the lights are on. Main question, should I go ahead and water tonight when the lights go out, or wait until tomorrow morning before lights come on?

if your not sure about soil being dry mate just stick your finger in about an inch maybe an inch n a half, if its dry youll know either that buy a cheap moisture meter

Hey all,

Like I said, I want to change my reflection. I have two totes attached together...about three foot high total. I bought some Aluminized Polyester (Emergency Blanket). I thought about taking cardboard, taping it then replacing the aluminum foil in my grow box. What do you think? It seems like it wouldn't crinkle as much as what I have now.

Older leaves towards the middle seem to have a little claw still. However, I think it is a female ladies and gentlemen. I might be wrong, but I think I am seeing two hairs coming out of an upper node on both sides. Also, can the very top have hairs coming out as well, or would it be new growth? I might be able to get some good pictures because I am switching reflection to mylar in a little bit. I watered them the other day with just 6.5 phed water and they seemed to sag a bit, but she (hopefully) is perky today and looks good. I will wait a few more days and hit it with 1/4 to gal. water of nutes and see how it reacts.

Okay, as I mentioned earlier, I was noticing some of the leaves were bending down. I watered the plant a few days ago with just 6.5 phed water. The picture below shows the bending or claw-like deficiency.

Now, in this next picture, the bottom foliage or leaves that look nute burned were taken off earlier when I was installing the bottom half of mylar. Take a close look at the leaves, they are the bottom leaves.

About an hour after I pulled those two bottom leaves (stem and all), the plant's stems started to sag all around the plant...take a look at the picture below.

Before I pulled those two nute burned leaves and stem from the plant, it looked like this:

I don't know, maybe someone can help me here. Thanks

leaves curl like that from over nuting.

The bottom leaves you pulled off that is a sign of a potash deficiency. However judging from new growth you no longer have that.

Thanks Jimmy, I woke this morning, the plant seems fine. New growth has doubled and the stems and leaves are not sagging or droopy. I might go ahead and feed today, but then again I might wait until tomorrow. I think what is going on here is a phase of recovery Jimmy. Also, I think I am dealing with a f'ed up watering and feeding schedule since I haven't really got a decent water/feed schedule. Last time I watered (phed/no fert) was Thursday the 23rd. Last time I gave nutes was a few days before that. I do feel a little moisture in the soil about an inch or so down, but 3/4 inches from the top is dry as hell, but that does not indicate that the soil is dry to where the plant needs water yet.

I don't use a fixed schedule for watering or feeding. After a while I've gotten used to the weight of a pot when I pick it up; it'll be light (but not too light, like styrofoam). I've never had luck with straight soils like Miracle-Gro or Peter's without adding perlite or Canadian peat moss (too dense; not enough drainage). What I've been doing lately is looking at the leaves right when it starts to grow (3 weeks more or less) and trying to memorize that exact color. I'll water moderately each time the pot feels light unless that color or appearance starts to change, then I'll feed.

Well, I have had some issues with this grow from the beginning, but I am a noob and everyone here has helped me so much. I want to feed it its nutes, but I also do not have a moisture meter to determine whether it is dry enough for a good feeding. The soil I have is great, but it got f'ed up because I added some 20-20-20 Miracle-Gro when they were just tiny seedlings...bad move. Since then I have fixed the PH and got some Dyna-Gro 7-9-5. I have fed it Dyna once and want to get it some more, but I have to be patient here. Above all, the plant seems better today, but the tips of fan leaves still curl. I am thinking this is a Nitrogen deficiency (lack of) due to flushing the soil. Therefore, once I give them a shot of this Dyna-Gro for the second time, it should perk up and look better, but we will see.

I thought about getting some string today and perhaps starting to devise a plan on making a Scrog. What do you think? Since I have but one plant for now, I want the yeild to be a little more generous, but we will see. Hell, I would be happy with an ounce.

gudday chad44145 i was advised to water in the morning or before lights on and i think it does make a slight difference although i run mine dry and they are always look better after watering. Im growing in potting mix and have found my watering schedule changed as the plants grew and started using more. i got caught out yesterday and they were wilting badly but watered this morning and they're standing up like there was viagra in it so im watering every second/third day now . In soil they dont like "wet feet" so i rekon err on the side of dry as you can always add water.

Chad- Do plan on adding more light when you flip cycles? I saw you were thinking about trying scrog. Just remember when u flower the plants like more light. I'm just trying to get a feel for setup.... In my current setup i was vegin 10 under 2k when I flipped cycles I waited about 10 days then flipped bulbs and turned on other 2k. I wait a week or so to change bulbs after time switch. My ladies seem not to stretch as bad when I do it that way. Anyway you lookin like your on the right track! Keep it up eventually you will learn to read your plants or listen when there asking so to speak. Until next time Happy Growing!:thumb:
