Hello everyone

I currently live in New Zealand and recently my mum has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis by the family doctor and she currently is on medication that causes her to lose her mood to have dinner,on Friday,I went with my mum to see the specialist in Wellington Hospital and was told if she was to go through the surgery route, she could be in the wheelchair forever and the waiting time will be 1-2 years in New Zealand,I was wondering will Cannabis help my mum's condition and I am considering moving to the US since I know Cannabis is allowed but which state will be the best for me and my mum?

Haven't been there myself, but if I had to guess, I'd probably say California.

Hello to you, Please forgive but wont even try to say your last name. I am a total recreational smoker and I thank God for that. I have a sister in Colorado and is cancer survivor. She has been a resident there for 28 years, and long before any legislature on MMJ. She feels that there are more people in that state with a more genuine concern as to it medicinal or theriputic propertys. She is no doctor but is involved in holistic and organic/ green medicines(plants and herbs). She also know there are some times the need for surgery or formulated medicines and to FIND out what you body needs!!! That is more important then what state will allow it. I would bank on Canada myself, if you are over 21 and don't leave your house with it and follow personal use requirements. Your only big issue is employment, some business are drug free enviroments for insurance reasons. So that plus -30 below and 10 feet of snow!! With what the plane fare would be you could start a 3 to 4 plant grow allowing 6 to 8 weeks between plants. This many with small up keep and basic knowledge you will have all the medicinals you need. If you have to hid it or in it for the money, is one thing. With $150 in supplies / lights you could maintain a 3 plant cycle with ease and the two of you sharing up keep. There is free therapy and a growing in personal understanding. Double bonus!! Not knocking Cali or Washington but my opinion the slower pace and more down to earth feeling I get thinking about all 3. I would choose Colorado personally. Also the south west corner of the state is lower in humidity / dampness, tends to be more dessert like of the 3. I know being 48, cold and damp make my bones ach with arthritis or not. I hope what or where you decide you do find HER relief!!
You only get ONE and I passed a kidney stone last year and don't want to know what a baby feels like!! So do all you can for HER!!!:peace:

Hullo!

I am Californian by birth, stayed there until I was 19. California is a wonderful place and can be a great place to live for anyone of all creeds and ancestry. Being from the Northern part of California I am inclined to favour Northern California. The Bay Area is packed with urban environments, the Sacramento Valley is a wonderful rich agricultural area, the South is even more packed with City, and the more northern parts are nice and mountainous. You can find almost every sort of climate that would help your Mum's condition weather-wise and temperature wise in California, it is a massive state with everything from deserts to redwood forests.
The cannabis laws in California are rather reasonable.

If we use this link as a baseline for economics
Cost of Living in Wellington, New Zealand. Prices in Wellington.
and then do comparisons with it
Cost of Living Comparison Between Sacramento, CA, United States And Wellington, New Zealand
Cost of Living Comparison Between San Francisco, CA, United States And Wellington, New Zealand
Cost of Living Comparison Between Los Angeles, CA, United States And Wellington, New Zealand
New Zealand seems to have a higher cost of living when compared to California using this data, a good thing in this instance.

I would also offer Washington as another option! I have lived here for seven years and there are few things I would have a gripe about. Washington is a true 'rain forest,' it seems to rain here for nine months of the year! The climate is very rainy in western Washington, while the eastern portion seems to get A LOT more sunshine. Washington is also very friendly to peoples of all creeds and ancestry. The medical cannabis laws are very reasonable, and consumption of cannabis is also legal for recreational consumption.

I love both states and greatly encourage you to SERIOUSLY read over the Medical Cannabis laws of both states. Also take my information with a grain of salt, I am clearly biased on supporting these two states because California is my birthplace and I just LOVE Washington.

I truly hope the best for your mum and yourself.

I recommend New Mexico. We're quiet, peaceful, usually in a rural and secluded part. The weather is fairly good all year, and cost of living here in fairly cheap as far as property is concerned. School systems are fantastic here also.. at least in the county we live in.

Yes I honestly think that if you could straight away if you didnt already get her onto some good organic hemp seed oil.
It is rich in omegas wich when present will help so much,if she is ok or even smokes or has smoked befor then certainly get some or grow some good ganja an you will see her appetite change almost if not imediatley I suffer with rhemitisim an get some arthritis in my hands now that im older I have had it for more than 30 years it so helps me with the pain . As well if you can grow some then get the leaves when the thc is in the plant an well for me I will need around 3-4g of dry leaves wet would be good as well im sure boil them up in a pot an add a teaspoon of butter it gets the medicine out of the plant an wear you want it in the oil I have had some very good leaf teas an there are recipes online probally on this site. I saw you thread an thought well I dont know what you can do about going to the USA but for the moment the things I have mentioned you can start straight away , also look at the diet an any other things that will trigger it an make things worse.
Good health I pray for your mother an yourself bro

BIG MOVE,,, truly hope Mum and you are ready for the US of A................Greatest Country, most diverse and confusing at times, guess that makes us Americans
OREGON,,, GO DUCKS !!!!!!!!
We moved to Oregon for my medical problems and for the fact of OMMP ( Oregon Medical Marijuana Program)
Here in Oregon you have the West very wet/green and the Eastern High Desert/Beautiful,, we live in the Western part due to work location, would like to move a little more east in the state or south IE Grants Pass south part of the green triangle.
We also like Colorado but no work there for us,,, forget CALF to expensive and well it's Cally LOL any state with a true Medical Marijuana Program=Oregon if you like cities Portland,Eugene are pretty chill with OMMP or for that matter WEED in any form !!!!!

Thank you for the encouragement people,as of this moment New Zealand's food rices are beyond a joke and clothing prices, bah I cannot afford new clothes also,I am hoping my mum can get a green card as well

north east washington , spokane, is more of a desert climate ,rainy fall and spring, little to no rain in summer, cold but not a lot of winter snow. medical growing is up in the air with the recreational use crap, they will try to outlaw med growers and force them into rec market.

Like Alec, I also live in Washington State. Yes, it's a great place in many ways, with both recreational and medical being legal. However, our medicinal laws are somewhat grey, and may be drastically restricted in the next year. Currently, any medical cannabis products you would want are available in co-op dispensaries, and patients or caregivers can grow up to 15 plants. There is a move afoot to shut down the dispensaries, restrict products available (possibly no high-potency concentrates), and eliminate or reduce personal grows. It may all work out, but the uncertainty would seem to make another State (with better-written mmj laws) a better choice at this time. Of course, even in legal states, some local municipalities are banning cannabis sales, so be sure to investigate closely.

California, that's the ticket.
Mendocino County.

Or Oregon along the Southwest Coast.

Denver CO, has a huge medical based center.

Tacoma WA, has long MRO wait times.

IMO.
