Need some help with dry/cure process

Hey guys first time poster and first time grower. Really would like some tips on the drying and curing process of my buds, My first plant i did i may have cut early some of the hairs turned red so i thought it would be a good idea. The smell coming off the plants after they were cut was funny almost like cough medicine or something funny, let it dry for about a week or so in a box hanging then i put it into a jar and just opened it up once or twice a day for abt a week but the smell is not strong or that great at all.

strain was GDP but did not go purple

If anyone could help explain the process from drying to curing and let me know maybe for how long i should be doing each would be great.

Firstly if you didn't let them finish then you should.t expect any purple.
Secondly dont go by the pistals. Go by the trics.

Lastly it sounds like you are on the right track. You wanna hang the miss until the stem snaps when bent. Then put them in the jars Nd butler them until they are at the proper dryness. Then comes the hard part...leave it alone for at least two weeks. This will even out the.moisture and let it stew in its own funk
