Hey guys!
I'm a new grower, about 2 months into this wonderful world of growing cannabis. Like most newbies I've been forum surfing and article hopping in an effort to devour as much knowledge as possible to ensure my girls grow healthy, happy, and strong! I'm a bit of an experimentally driven individual so trying different methods and documenting my results is more of a fun endeavor rather than work for me. I do have many life projects/current responsibilities to tend to so for the sake of taking precautionary measures I will state that much of my documentation is and will be backdated outside of my personal daily logs.

I will be posting up pictures and stats of my current grows soon, and very happily welcome and encourage feedback and/or advice.

I must also state that for sake of peace and maturity of any conversations within my posts that I am a firm believer in sharing and debating opposing ideas. It is the only way we can advance our methods, knowledge, and strengthen the foundation of the grow community as a whole. Simply put, please do not take personal offense if I disagree with your advice, or provide my own input. I am only attempting to solidify my knowledge, and perhaps together discover something new and helpful for the community.
 
This is my oldest plant, and the seed that sparked my growing interest. I have named her 'Willow'. Willow is a random bag seed still waiting to show sex for me. Currently she is under a 600w led panel on veg lighting but is 3 days into the flowering light cycle. There were early signs of nute burn due to my own learning error. I recently flushed the soil and she is responding very well so far. I have added one 60w equivalent cfl to reach the new growth present from my training techniques. Photos are attached.

I have a seedling tray with slightly staggered germination dates to allow for error correction. In the attached Photos you will see
2 white widow - Charlotte and Wilbur
1 honey cream - Winnie(oldest)
1 Kryptonite(youngest) - Chloe (Sullivan)
1 AK47 - BAKky
and 1 cheese - Gouda

They are under 2 cfl with another present for the ambient light bouncing off of the white walls. Will move to grow tent into their first size planters (1.3qt pots) when mature enough.

I Will be using Fox Farms soil and nutrients throughout the grow mixing perilite for added drainage.

Hello dd welcome to the forum, looks like you are off to a good start. I would ask how far from your oldest plant is that 600w light ? Looks like a lot of stretch from that one.

Thanks for your reply Zincite. Are you referring to the oldest plant or oldest new seedling? Edit : re-read your question and apologize for all the extra unrequested info.

In regards to the seedling, Winnie had a LOT of stretch from the cheapo 45w led seedling panel I had purchased so I have since switched to cfl for the seedling stage. This seemed to stop vertical growth but bushy growth is rapid. Upon transplanting I will be burying some of the stem bringing the soil line closer to the cotelydon.

In regards to my oldest grow, In the tent currently. Willow is my first and also a random bag seed of unclear origin( potentially sour diesel). I made MANY MANY MANY mistakes with this super tough persistent little trooper.. Willow has been very forgiving and provided an opportunity for me to make my learning mistakes without breaking the bank. As of now, Willow is tied down for LST and no visible vertical growth has occurred since, only new bushy growth. Willow has been pruned along the lower parts since early in veg. I attempted fimming and topping as well and have now ended up with a beautiful new primary growth sprouting up around the middle of the stalk being aided by a cfl shining directly on the new growth to counter the upper growth shading the new leaves. In essence, this plant has been so patient and forgiving for me that I want to see the grow through.

My current delimma is trying to sex Willow asap so I know whether or not she gets to stay with her new sisters so when the seedlings are big enough to go into the tent under the big light(600w led panel with veg/bloom settings). Any advice on this, or just persist with patience?

as far as sexing a plant you'll just have to be patient and let it unfold.

Absolutely no worries, yeah she's definitely looking awkward at this stage.

Everything I read said to expect rapid growth once you switch to 12/12. But it's one thing reading it, and another to see it. I swear every day this gal is sprouting up new growth and it's so exciting! I'm waking up to a nice surprise every day.

I have a question that has been asked a billion times ( which is actually why I feel the need to ask, too many contradictory replies ). Still, I apologize for needing to bring up such a worn out topic.

At which point can I stop considering my new plants seedlings, and start thinking along the lines of veg? If you're able to show me a picture comparison I would love you forever and ever! Lol:circle-of-love::ganjamon:
 
I’ve been told by some great growers here that they consider the vegetative state starting when there is growth at the 3rd node. Sorry don’t have pics. But basically the 3rd set of leaves. And in true cannabis grower form there is probably another opinion coming soon!:rofl:
But that’s when I no longer consider it a seedling!

Much obliged my friend! That seems to be the general consensus around from what I've seen too. I guess I've got the newbie nerves going on lol :eek::thumb::passitleft:

IVe done well through my first grow so far with the help of the people here. Now I’m preparing for a new one and all of a sudden I don’t know anything anymore! Lol
