A western New York homeowner faces drug charges after law enforcement officers raided his house and reported finding a marijuana-growing operation.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force says the Thursday evening raid on the Dunkirk home yielded a large number of plants being grown with the use of lights, automated watering, fans and other tools.

Authorities didn't specify the number of plants found but estimated their value at about $50,000. Officers also seized processed marijuana and growing records.

The 60-year-old homeowner, Pedro Solares, was charged with unlawfully growing marijuana. Investigators say additional charges against Solares and others are possible. A phone listing for Solares was not in service Friday. It's unknown whether he has an attorney.
