Hey Ms. Tea. It's where you pinch off ~80% of the top young leaf set usually on the main stem. Idea is to slow main stem growth & at same time push growth in the laterals. To get fullness & even canopy. Google it & you'll see better explanations plus pics than I can write. I do it a lot both inside & outside. Simple & easy & reliable.

okay i did a search. so this is cutting more of the top off - instead of topping you take almost all of the top middle off from what i understand .. Ill try it

I dont know what to do here. I have all three plants under the lights - on the same schedule of 18/6 but my Afghan is flowering and the other two arent. Turbo is fluxing so she wont flower for a while and the skunk is just growing along. My question is because these are autos, does it matter if I dont do 12/12 with afghan and keep her on the same light schedule as the other two? This is one time when it was so much easier outside letting mother nature do her thing - instead of having to figure this out. I am glad one is flowering early because Im just about out of tea from my summer garden so i really dont wanna screw this up. On a side Note, my daughter says the house is starting to smell funny - shes blaming it on the cat, I told her its the Christmas tree. She doesnt know we now have a grow room in the basement
Aside from that I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and if you celebrate something else Happy Holidays!

My autos are flowering in a tent with photos running 16/8.

Thanks for the response Petergreen - guess I'll leave them be and see what happens.
I've never run one, but if the plant is an Auto, it should begin to flower on it's own, without needing diminishing light per day. All Autos have been crossed with a Russian Ruderalis strain, which flowers more as a matter of maturity, than season.

Okay I was told by the master Light addict that I had to defol turbo. I knew she was getting a little too busy but I have a hard time trimming - I just feel so bad doing it. But Alas I did trim her up.
Before :

I also fed them tonight: 1/2 dose of bat guano, 1/2 dose of cal/mag, and some foxfarm. I watered them first, (1/2 gal between the three) made sure the soil was nice and moist, then mixed all the nutes together and watered again with another 1/2 gal. so far I havent had any problems with feeding them that way.

Gosh, I know LA is legendary and his technique is well proven. I myself plan to have him tutor me through my initial attempt. But the mother in me, - the grandma in me - just cringes at the thought. My girls are growing wild in their little closet compared to the restrained ones. 
I've enjoyed the journey through your journal to this point and would be pleased to watch you pull this off. Let's see what reward Turbo gives you in the end.

Hi SweetSue, yes LA is amazing - im hoping under his tutelage Ill be able to do half as good as he does. Even 1/4 of one of his fluxes would make me happy. Its all about patience though. They do grow really really slow so Im glad I have others growing at the same time. Its a great hobby for the long cold winter though and I love walking in the grow room, its like a quick trip to Aruba, bright warm and sunny!
Week 8 update -
Sweet skunk is still vegging - I took Brightlights advice and I topped her earlier on and now she is filling out really nice with even tops.
Ive noticed Ive had to water her alot more than the other two - she needs it every 3 days. The flux I water about once a week/7 days and turbo every 4-5 days.
Now pictures: First is my grow - I am completely out of room so this weekend Im going to re-do everything
Sweet Skunk - shes doing awesome so im just leaving her be at this point
Turbo: She doesnt look much different other than I snapped another branch
Theres a couple more trying to grow out so Im topping the end colas to see if i can get the small ones to grow out more
and last but not least Afghan Kush flowering

She got a break last night, I turned off the lights at 6 after work and forgot to turn them back on till i got up for work at 6 this morning. She is an auto but Im thinking 12/12 is what she needs at this point. Its a good experiment though - just dont know if i want to stay the course or not - any feedback on this is more than welcome
