A New York man was arrested at the Holland Tunnel Monday night when police found nine bags of marijuana in his car, authorities said.

Patrick Niedt, 29, was stopped at the Jersey City toll plaza at about 8:30 p.m. after an officer spotted a dangling license plate on his 2013 Acura, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

Officers said they smelled marijuana coming from inside the car. Inside they found one Ziplock-sized bag of marijuana near the driver's seat and another eight bags in an envelope under the passenger's seat, Pentangelo said.

Niedt's license was suspended, police learned, and his car was impounded, he said.

He was charged with multiple drug offenses, including possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, and he was also issued motor vehicle summonses.

Police did not have the weight or estimated street value of the marijuana.

This is sad. Granted hes obviously a street dealer, this guys life is gonna get destroyed fast. But on the bright side look at the quality of nug he had. Haha looks like pressed mids at best! Not even trimmed! Maybe they saved people from being overcharged. But seriously, it's sad when 2 ounces gets you a huge sentence like that. Best of luck to another victim of the war on drugs.
