Nkwow's Legal Grow 1st Ever Attempt: Soil With All-In-One Feed Indoors

Welcome to my very first ever attempt at growing this wonderful plant. I recently received my medical card here in the state of New Mexico and after one trip to the dispensary I decided to look into producing my own meds as I am not too keen on spending $10-$15 per gram. Luckily for a very low fee of $30 per year I was able to apply for a personal production license which allows me to grow up to 16 plants total with 4 plants flowering at one time. So I began my research into what I needed and this is what I have gone with for my first attempt.

Grow Location: Indoors in a closet that goes under the stair well
Grow Medium: Soil....Organilock Hemp Blend Soil (Thanks Organilock! They were nice enough to send me 4 bags of soil and a bottle of organispray all-in-one plant food. I just payed shipping.)
Fertilizer: Organilock Organispray All-In-One plant food
Lights: Cheap 800w Amazon COBs (actual wattage is 200w per light) will be using 2 for flower and one for veg to try and get a perpetual grow going. Will be running 19/5 for the entire grow with these auto seeds.
Air Flow: Running a 6" exhaust fan plumbed into the attic and 6" cheap fan for circulation.
Plant Containers: Smart Pots 1g and 5g.....will be starting in Solo cups and up-potting straight to 5g for autos. Photos will get up-potted to 1g and then finally to 5g. At least that is the plan.
PH: For simplicity I plan to just use tap water without testing ph. Soil is 6-7ph
Temp. and RH: Temperatures range between 70-82 F and RH is between 20%-30% so I have a humidifier controlled by a smart outlet that will come on when needed to combat the low RH I live in.

The Grow...

I soaked 3 seeds in water for 24 hours and then they went into wet paper towers in a baggie for 12 hours. I then planted the seeds in soil on 09/01/2019. Inexperience and a fear of over-watering caused 2 of the 3 seeds to dry up before the sprouted leaving me with only one baby plant ( the CBD Lemon Potion). So on 09/09/2019 I decided to drop my remaining auto seeds in water (the NYC Diesel auto and the freebie GG auto) for 24 hours and then back into paper towels again for 12 hours and will plant them in soil this evening when I get home. Here are a few pictures of the beginning of this adventure. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions as I am all ears at this point and just want to learn and get better with ever grow! Thanks for stopping by my journal and checking it out, I can't wait to see what happens and hope that I can at the very least take one of these plants from start to finish.

Looks like a decent space.
More people I believe murder plants today from freaking out about over watering and end up drastically under watering.
And in reality over watering is really never the problem anyway.
The problem is soil tilth not being right.

If you plant in a 10+ gallon FABRIC pot and your soil tilth is good then it would be difficult to over water.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! So on 11/11 I planted the last two seeds in soil and they were both sprouted and up by the evening of 11/12. I think I figured out how to get this far without much trouble from now on. My temps run between 78 and 82 degrees farenheit with lights on and around 70-72 with them off. My rh is about 30% unless I run the humidifier full blast and it runs out of water before I get home from work. I don't know how important rh is and would like your opinions. If 30% won't give me negative results I will just scrap the humidifier but if I need to get it up around 50% I did buy a large humidifier at an auction this weekend that I can move in there. At this stage I am not going to feed anything as they are so young and I have read that autos in soil don't require much or any extra nutes. I do plan to use the nutes that came with my soil once I transplant them in their permanent 5 gallon smart pots in another weekish. Please let me know if you think I am doing anything wrong or should be doing something differently. I am burying the clear solo cups they are in tonight before the roots become exposed to light.

:passitleft:
Ive found that at the beginning humidity was low so I started by adding buckets of water with some towels hanging into them to get the water to soak up the towel. It helped get humidity up a bit and after you have all your plants going and watering that will help too.

Day 11 for the Lemon Potion CBD and day 5 for the NYC Diesel and the GG. I brought in the big humidifier after work yesterday and with it on the lowest settings I could still feel the difference this morning. It appears this lowered my temps a couple degrees and brought my RH up to 45%. I will bump it up a notch after work and see where that gets me. I don't know how realistic of a goal 70% is in the desert here but I should be able to get above 50% without any trouble for sure so that should lower the stress on them I hope.

hey buddy .. alomg for the ride.. just one word of advice that cant be said enough... allow your soil to go dry before you wey again. it needs oxygen whih the water will push out... and i swear by h202.. plenty good for soil in the right doses

@Th34v4t4r Glad to have you along and thanks for the advice! I believe I have got the watering down now but I can see how easy it would be to overwater. I have to go help the neighbor go repo some cars tonight and my lights aren't back on yet but I will try to get some pics and post an update when I get home.

Well we had a longer night repossessing cars so I didn't get anything posted last night but I did snap a few pictures when I got home. The big humidifier is working and RH is now 45-65% and temps running 68-81 Farenheit. I'm not sure if it is anything but there are a couple leaves that are curling up in places but I don't know if they are trying to tell me something by this or not. Day 14 for Lemon Potion now in the middle and day 8 for the GG and NYC D.

Day 17 update. Thanks for the advice. I did, per your suggestion take the plastic cup off the LP but I was worried that if I tried to do it with the little ones I might kill them. They will get transplanted this weekend. The new leaves are not showing the curling up on the edges, so I think that is a good thing. They all seem to be growing quickly but some of the leaves on the LP appear to be sagging or pointing down, but they have seemed like this all the time. She is growing pretty fast, so I'm hoping maybe it is just the size of those leaves in relation to being such a small little plant. It also appears that she has decided it is time to start making flowers. Or at least that is what I think is going on with the 2 little white hairs. Seems so soon to me, especially since the plant is so small but this is my first grow so I am assuming the plant knows best. I'm just happy that they are all still alive!

I have an auto that popped out of the ground on August 12th, so today is day 42.
She started flowering on day 20.

This is what she looked like on day 23
20190908_001041.jpg

This is what she looked like 7 days later.
She grew 26" in 7 days, average of 3.7" per day, and 3 of those days it grew 4" per day.

This is today, I had to LST the top bud because I have run out of room.
I measured her this morning at 61" tall and that's with the top bent over.
It would be about 5' 7" if not LST'd.

So as you can see if you got the environment right and your soil dialed in they can take off like Bamboo.

I hope you all had a great weekend. Things seem to be going well and I am happy to see the CBD Lemon Potion stretching and producing new growth very rapidly. I fed the girls their first nutes at .5 oz. to a gallon on 9/26 and shared that between between the 3 until runoff. I have noticed some signs of nute burn after so I have not few any more. I will water tonight again with straight water and maybe try nutes at .25 per gallon next watering. I tried my hand at some LST just to try and get more light to lower flowers. I was tempted to super crop the main cola for a more even canopy but this is my first plant and idk how that would stress the plant is early flower. Please let me know what you all think. Here are some pictures from today 9/30.

I was thinking that but it kinda got ahead of me and now the only way I could see training the top was to smash the stem and bend it over. I know that most of you experienced growers never hesitate but I just didn't want to hurt my first plants. Well I probably didn't do it correctly but I did it all the same and nothing broke so as hard as it is for me to believe, I imagine that when I head to work in the morning they will be standing themselves back up already.

Day 25 update. Watered all of the ladies with plain water and gave them a foliar spray with .5 oz per gallon.
Well as I suspected that didn't slow them down. I was hoping that by super cropping the main branch they would put more effort in the shorter branches that were pushing for the light. You guys must start training really early to get the center to bend where you want it. I'm sure that I just don't fully understand how to properly train them. My research comes almost 100% from grow journals and you get so many different opinions that way.I decided to measure their height tonight and from left to right 10inch,15inch, 7.5inch. I think I will just let them grow the way they want to from now on. I was wondering if I could cut off some of the large fans that are blocking light to lower buds without much negative effect?
