No odor drying

If no one can think of a compelling reason not to I'm Putting a damp rid in the bottom of a deep tote.
I'll dry on a screen about 2" over that and 3" from the top.
I've got a small computer fan I'll just lay on the screen to move the air around.
I even have a remote thermometer/hydrometer.
I think this should suck the air out fast.
Next a vacuum desiccator to go with my vacuum pump.

That's why I'm putting the hydrometer in
I'll probably skip the fan and ill work out a way to control
exposure to the desiccant

Hydrometer? Why are you measuring the specific gravity of liquids? Or do you mean hygrometer?

Does the desiccant have odor absorption properties, or is it only moisture absorption?

Your design also sounds like it would speed up drying time with the use of a desiccant. Is this part of the goal, or are you looking to stay with the average 7day +/- dry time?

Oops its a weather monitor temp and RH.
I'm not looking for speed just smell.
This could sit in a house with no fan running.

I think the desiccant will contribute to a faster dry time, with no effect on odor.

I'd use something like the link I posted above, a simple fan with a small filter on a box would do the job fine.

I've done the box with a filtered fan
I'm just thinking out of the box
It would be stealthy
Just a tote sitting there all sealed up.
I can watch the RH so it doesn't dry too fast.
I'll post the results.

drying too fast is not the problem.
Humidity jumped up to 90%
I spread the desiccant in the bottom on an aluminum pan.
45% at 69degrees and NO ODOR unless I open it for inspection.
I think this may be a keeper.

ok one week dry
ran at 40% for 5 days up to 45 one then 35 when dried now it's in the jars.
This is a keeper I'll just buy the replacement desiccant next time.
