Nutrient lockdown?

New grow, hydroponic, first time using organic nutrients.

Strains are gods green crack and girl scout cookies

Previous grow, same strains, non organic,
gsc was the compact smaller plant and the ggc was large and lush.

This grow, is completely opposite. The gsc is going crazy and the ggc is very small and stunted.

I had to replace my ph and TDs meters early on and in doing so discovered I had the ph way too low.

I added ph up to get to proper levels and have been monitoring regularly. I'm not used to these organic nutrients or the the tds meter so am a bit lost. I'm not getting ppm over 600 when it seems I should be. Did I go and buy a meter that doesn't have the range? Do organic nutrients behave differently?

I'm guessing I have nutrient lockout and plan to flush today and start over. How long should it be straight water dripping before I reintroduce nutrients?

Attached are pics of the yellowing leaves and burnt tips. I think I see a bit of curling as well.

Well good news, from my nood perspective they are healthy still and should recover. The burnt tips indicate a nute burn, you will need to lower the EC/PPM of your feed for a bit.

Your new tds meter....it should indicate somewhere if it's at a 0.5x or 0.7X conversion factor. Does it have a mode button? You may need to look back at the box it came in.

If its just a difference of conversion factor, you'll have a bit of a learning curve but should be fine.

The white spots concern me the most. Anything on bottom of leaves? Could just be from a lockout I suppose due to your PH being off. I'll let someone more experienced weigh in.

Ya I meant to mention the white spots. That's from popcorn ceiling. I recently moved the lights.

I'm using propow probe. I can't find any conversion factor. Attached is the specs shown on Amazon. It does have a mode button to switch to ec.

That will work for sure.

Another product I use weekly is spinosad. Google it. Get the comcentrate its organic. Good for use in flower. If they are spider mites and I'd check to be sure they are kinda small to see in a camera pic you need to treat the plants 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks they have several life cycles.

They dont come from organic nutrients more likely to come from you bringing them into your flower space on your clothing etc.

Look up "ipm" = integrated pest management

This will be a thing for you if you dont get on it and stay on it.

Sulfur vapor is best thing in veg but costy to start.

Thanks @bobrown14, I haven't encountered them yet, still completing my first grow, I was going from what I remember reading on the forum. :Namaste:

I took another fresh eye look at the insects

2 spotted spider mite and confirmed. @McTrish get on it with products suggested. If you have other house plants spray them along with.

GL Sorry to see they can be gotten rid of but you need persistence.

This is why I switched to hydro. I read that hydro and non organic nutrients will make plants less susceptible to pests.
I'm not sure what posessed me to try organic anyway. My last grow did so well with no bugs. I'm a big gardener and not the best housekeeper so need extra deterants.
Here a couple more bug pics. I think I am seeing a tiny bit of webbing as well

Darn it! Thanks all. Heading out now for bug killer. Is spinosad the one that is banned in Canada? I used dr doom crysanthimum or something in my first soil grow. They were a nightmare

OK what made you think that nutrients have anything to do with insects?? Maybe the hydro guy wanted to sell you something...??? Food for thought.

I guess insects somehow know your plants are not gonna taste good or something with all those chemical fertilizers??

To make it simple,

Which conversion are you used to or more comfortable with?

X 0.5

Or

X 0.7

Or

EC?

If your not sure, do you remember what kind you were using before it was replaced?

ppm which is mode 1 and from your last post conversion of 0.5.
I'm assuming that means it converted 800 ppm to 400 ppm.

I'm not sure it makes sense to me that 400 is 200 based on the nutrients added previously and having trouble getting over 600 ppm.

I know I'm a total newb. I didn't use a conversation factor at all on my last grow. Perhaps I should have
It gives you a point of reference, and I'm not exactly up to point enough too delve into how it all works. Theres been plenty of good conversations on the forum by more knowledgeable members  . Here's a link to one I found in a few seconds.

The x0.5 conversion is mode one and what you've done, just stick to it for now to keep yourself consistent. I believe it's also the most referenced one other then just EC. (I.e. EC 1.8)

Mine flips between all 3 so I've started getting in the habit of marking both EC and x0.5.
