Oakland Revokes Dispensary Permit

A medical cannabis dispensary in Oakland had its conditional permit revoked after it failed to distance itself from Dhar Mann, a controversial "ganja-preneur" who officials suggested might be controlling the dispensary from behind the scenes.

The city had expressed concerns that several G8 Medical Alliance's board members were either employees or business partners of Mann, who was also to be the dispensary's property manager. His family owned the property.

After the city directed the dispensary to find a new property, the dispensary submitted two new locations that were also owned by Mann's family.

Saying that the dispensary had "willfully ignored" the city's concerns, Deputy City Administrator informed the board in writing that it had breached conditions of its selection.

Mann was charged last week with 13 felony counts for allegedly defrauding an Oakland grant program that helps property owners pay for renovations.
