Ohio Groups To Hold Rally And Educational Event For Medical Cannabis Bill

In a recent poll, 73% of Ohioans supported legalization of medical use of marijuana. Unfortunately, many are not aware that a bill currently exists in the House that would allow just that. Many Ohio politicians have made it clear that they have no intention of representing their constituents' wishes on this issue, and until citizens across the state know about this bill and speak out, the bill will sit inactive in the Health Committee.

In addition to building support for this bill, however, there is another goal for the rally. In addition to speakers Dawn Dunlap, Tonya Davis and others, as well as live music and more, there will also be educational material to help the remaining 27% of Ohioans understand exactly what medical cannabis is all about. Guests will learn about the myriad conditions helped by cannabis, the truth about medical versus recreational legalization, and why synthetic THC is not the same as the full range of cannabinoids in natural cannabis. Several other speakers are also being confirmed throughout the week.

As a special bonus to Foursquare users, one event organizer will also be holding a mass check-in at noon in an attempt to have the first Super Swarm badge issued in Ohio (which would require 250 checkins), so be sure to bring your phone.

The event will be held this Saturday, October 16th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the statehouse at 1 Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio. The event will go on rain or shine. Further information, as well as a section to discuss travel arrangements and late-breaking news, is available at the OMCA Rally website at Ohio Medical Compassion Act (OMCA) Rally | Facebook. Updates will also be posted throughout the week at OMCA Rally (OMCARally) on Twitter. Watch all week for additional speaker announcements.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This event will be professional and family-friendly. Please refrain from tye-dye, drum circles, or "protest" behavior as well as any acts of civil disobedience such as smoking in public. We ask that participants dress and behave appropriately for our important cause. Signs are greatly encouraged provided they are not vulgar or confrontational.
