Oklahoma City - Supporters of medical marijuana who want to let Oklahoma voters decide the issue in November are making a last-minute push for signatures but say it's likely they'll come up short in their effort.

The group Oklahomans for Health has until 5 p.m. Thursday to submit about 66,000 signatures from registered voters in order to qualify the petition for the ballot.

Former Democratic state legislator Joe Dorman, who is spearheading the effort, says supporters had about 50,000 signatures heading into last weekend and that thousands more have been delivered since then.

Dorman says the group plans to deliver the signatures to the Secretary of State's office at around 4 p.m.

If unsuccessful, Dorman says supporters plan to launch a new effort to qualify for the ballot in 2018.
