Having grown for my adult daughter(legal), about 10 years ago. So now growing for me- a lot of health issues. So dragging out the old MH light. It didn't seem as bright as I remembered. I was busy trying to get other issues straight during this grow. With my attention my lighting, what I remembered as a 1000 watt was just a 400 watt. I had found a very inexpensive MPH system on ebay- 400 w- and had not put it into service. So I replaced the old one. The difference was like dusk and day. The new more than doubled the lux. The thing is this. the old light had seen very short service- maybe one grow..
Therefore, just because a bulb has not seen much service, does not mean it will perform well after being idle for 10 years.
