Outdoor Soil?

i am growing outdoors and have found a good private spot with a water source.

the question is: the soil is loose sandy clay, with nutrients. it looks like it will support good growth with fertilizers, trace minerals etc.

should i dig it up and mix with potting soil and polymere crystals, or should i just go with whats there? it doesnt look bad at all.

thanx!

i see

thanx for the reply. yeah, i think ill dig 3' down and use some of the sandy soil mixed with the poly crystals and black topsoil. there should always be a good source of water in the sandy clay base at the bottom.

thanx dude!

Re: Outdoor Soil ???

first off man...clay is NEVER good when your looking for a grow area so make sure you dig far enough down to where your roots wont hit any clay because they probly will become rootbound

Re: Outdoor Soil ???

^i wouldn't worry too much about it

Re: Outdoor Soil ???

Sandy clay amended with top soil or other blend would be just fine. Try adding some perlite, sand, worm castings, peat and/or compost to it and you should be fine. If drainage is an issue - holding water - then dig the holes deeper...and the polymer crystals...Great Idea!
