Outside Soil?

I was just wondering instead of useing bag soil that you would by at a garden store could you use outside soil to grow a plant?? Kinda like growing the plant from the ground or in a bucket. Please and thanks for all the people that answer my question. Ill prob have more.

if the soil is in good shape, and is fertal then it should work fine. Just make sure it can get plenty of light.

Thank you sir. I think im gonna buy a hoe and just spend the afternoon rake and it looseing up the soil. Make it all rich and black. Take rocks out and so fourth.
