Papaya - CFL - Stealth - DWC - Hydro Grow Journal

UPDATE!

So its been almost 2 weeks since the chop and a good 8 days curing! Took some bud shots so i thought i would post some bud porn and let everyone know how its going!

The buds are getting smoother everyday!!! Almost no cough now at this point. She still needs at least another week for the smoothness im after. The smell is great when you open the jars but when you take them out the individual buds dont have much a smell until you break them open. Im hoping more smell will come out with the cure.

The smoke is AMAZING!!!! This is some strong stuff! Its funny because now that i have so much i roll big joints or blunts and pack big bowls but i can never finish them lol.... Not by myself at one time. I have never had this much cannabis at one time so its truly amazing at the amount of medicine i have for me and my wife from one plant.

The high is great! To be honest i believe papaya could have gone a little longer if i was seeking a couch lock high because its for sure is a head high with a smaller body high. The body high comes about 30 mins after you smoke and is more of a mild body high. I was seeking some medicine that i could be active and do things with so it turned out perfect. It keeps me more focused and im able to function and go in public (as long as i dont smoke to much haha). If you take some good tokes it will still sit you down and give you a relaxing feeling that wont let you move to much!. It gets stronger by the day! I for sure love this strain! Im going to let one of my clones go until mostly amber so i can see the different effects!

Time for some bud porn! Look how frosted it is! Never had bud this frosty lol...

Looking Great there HN!!

I just got my 10 papaya seeds from Nirvana arrive a couple days ago (along with my 10 Blackberry seeds and 2 Pineapple Chunk)

I would get the Papaya started, but i currently have an apartment full of plants already haha. A 1LB+'er White widow in flower, week 2, 3 Great white sharks going into Flower in a week along with 2 smaller White widowXGreat White shark cross. I have 1 BC Sweet Tooth under my LED next to 10 Great White shark self pollinated seedlings, 5 feminized Great White Shark seedlings, 2 Girl Scout Cookies seedlings, 2 OG kush seedlings and one more WWxGWS seedling cross

Hopefully i haven't bitten off more than i can chew... or grow!

Hunter those are absolutely beautiful buds. Great job my man.

Just wanted to report back and let everyone know that papaya was a great success and I really enjoyed this grow. After a 5 week cure the smoke is very good! The flavor is very sweet and fruity. The smell when you open the jar is very strong and sweet. Its a pundgy smell. When you pick a bud up and smell you cant really smell anything. But as soon as you crush some trichomes or break apart a bud the aroma hits you. Very fruity smell mixed with a pine aroma. The only con is that it does make you cough if you take a nice rip. Im not for sure if its the strain or not flushed proper. The ash is always white and its very smooth. Just on the exhale it will make you cough. Oh well they say you are not getting high unless you cough hahahaha...

Papaya will always hold a spot with me as it was my first strain. I will purchase some more of this strain in the future! It grows excellent.

Please head over to the 420 Strain Reviews forum and post your smoke report there too.

I’m moving this to Completed Journals now.

In the future, whenever you complete a journal, please use the Report Post feature found at the bottom left of every post, so we can be alerted to move it for you.

Hope all is well in your world.

Amazing grow!! I am attempting a CFL grow as well. I have 2 plants in a 5 gallon bucket. I may have to change reservoir size later with having 2 plants. This thread has been very encouraging for me. I have been nervous about how to proceed now that I'm getting steady growth. I knew going in it was going to be a long grow. Seeing the return you got from your patience is very inspiring. Love all the pics and info you brought into it as well. A perfect blueprint for a first timer.

I currently have 150W 6500K CFL's going. 6 total bulbs so far. I noticed you had a lot of stretch after veg. I have seen other journals that used CFL's putting them right next to the plants. In most of your earlier pics, the lights are quite a bit higher than the most people would suggest. Did you notice a difference with the lower Kelvin lights? Did you ever go above the 2700K mark on any of ur bulbs? I am planning on grabbing a bunch more lights soon so any info would be most appreciated.

Once again, amazing job!! Makes me feel very good about my future.

5 gallons will be fine for 2 medium plants. You can definately keep cfl's close to the plants and eeping a few 6500k bulbs will also keep stretching down to a minimum. Some plants will stretch more than others tho.

Khraevyn, Thanks for the kind words! Now to help answer some questions for you!

As far as stretch after veg. Once you flip your girls to 12/12 they all stretch 2-3 weeks no matter what light or how close you keep them. Some of my pictures might look as if the lights are higher above papaya but in all cases the lights were always no more than 6 inches from the tops. I had trouble with burnt leaves everyday because they would grow right to the lights everyday. As you can see in some of my pictures i had a lot of bulbs...... I believe by the end i had a total of 18-20 if i remember correctly. All only inches from buds or the tops.

Also i ran 2700k and 6500k bulbs. I had 4-6500k bulbs mixed in at all times with the 2700k. There is no way for me to compare so i dont know about growth. I do know you need the 2700k spectrum for good bud production.

You can expect a stretch of 2-3 times your girls size just before you flip to 12/12. Thats why i was letting you know its going to get crowded for you if both are female! You dont want your plants to get to big as you run into the problem of your girls also getting root bound in the 5 gallon bucket if both are female. It takes for a big plant to get root bound in a 5 gallon bucket but keep in mind you have two in it.

Just because you are running CFL's your grow isnt going to go longer than someone with HPS or LED.... Its just a matter of your plant isnt going to yield to its potential. Even with all of my lights i can FOR SURE tell a big difference in lighting from when i had CFL's... My CFL grow the buds were very airy and very lightweight. Although i had some nice sized buds for CFL's they didnt weight up to anything i had with smaller buds with my HPS. If this is your first grow you will see what im talking about when you make it to harvest with CFL's. You can make your own choices but im telling you from my experience and research that HPS is dominate in cannabis growing.... Hands down Watt for watt there is no comparison. While LED produces very nice looking buds with lots of trichomes HPS really stacks on the weight and full potential of the strain. You will have to do research and make your own mind up on what you want to get! Its all what you want.

Check out this pic i hope you can see that the lights are only inches from the top. I think this is day 12 of flowering.

Thanks for the tips brother!! I appreciate you taking the time to address my grow personally on your journal. I hope I have some good buds to show off at the end of it all. Good luck with your grow and keep on keeping on.
