Paraplegia by Gary Marshall

I am a T11 paraplegic with all the problems that go with that condition. I have muscle rigidity, muscle spasms, an average of 3 to 5 hours sleep, given the benefit of doubt, and little or no appetite. I read articles about the use of marijuana for these chronic problems. I currently take methadone for pain, baclofen for the muscular symptoms, and some type of prescription sleeping aid so that I might sleep through these problems. I am so "doped up" from all these medications that if I were to drive I would be under the influence. This is not a legal standpoint but an actual situation. I had to do something. I tried marijuana. My legs were limp and the spasms were minimal. I slept all night for the first time in months, and I ate like I used to eat before the accident that caused my paralysis. I had talked to my doctor about the possibility of a prescription for Marinol. It is not indicated for my situation. I am now back to all the problems I had before I tried marijuana. I can't take the chance of being arrested by purchasing marijuana, I have four daughters and a fantastic wife, and as I understand the costs to be, I certainly could not afford it without using my prescription card. I am very disheartened by the fact that I am back to all the problems I have without the use of marijuana. I am also back to taking three different prescriptions and nothing to help my appetite. This is no way to live, and it is so hard to remain positive about my life. I maintain only with the help of My Lord Jesus. Nothing else has the hope I need to fight this very negative part of my life. I truly hope that the outdated thinking of politicians will change to benefit the people who really need help. If I can drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and pump down enough pills to make me incapacitated legally, then marijuana is simply being discriminated against for inconsiderate and ignorant reasons.
