Got my Dwarf Star yesterday. Thank you Neil. Happy with the packing and product, very nice. Put it in a 3.3 x 3.3 veg tent over some Jawa Pie. Happy with the light output. Also before my purchase I spoke with Neil and he answered all my questions and was a pleasure to speak with.
I've been growing for years with MH and HPS. I've been using led for cloning and seedings for about 5 years but this my first experience growing with led. If I'm happy with the results in veg I will be getting a Goliath to run in a 6' x 6' (5' x6' usable growing area) sealed flower room with CO2, ac and dehumidifier along with a vented 600w HPS. After this first run if I'm happy with the results, as I'm sure I will, be I'll be adding at least one more led to replace the 600w HPS. I want to run the Goliath next to the HPS for a side by side comparision.
First thing I have noticed is the temperature difference. With a passive intake and exausting to the outside I am only getting a 1-2 degree F increase in temperature at plant height in the tent from room temperature.
With the HPS or MH in the same tent running 2 6" Vortex inline fans (449 cfm), dialed down of course, one fan exchanging air and one fan cooling the light through a vented hood and both exausted to the outside I average a 4-5 degree F increase in temp. If I use only one 6" fan (running full) to pull through a carbon filter, blow over the bulb (vented hood) and extract to the outside I average a 7 degree F increase. Oh, and I'm only using a 4" hurricane inline now to maintain only a 1-2 degree temp increase.
So the first thing I have been able to do I remove a fan, controller and duct work and able able to achieve very close to room temp with my extraction fan on medium speed. Pluses are less equipment need to maintain environment and less noise (more stealth).
Now just have to see how the plants respond.
