Perlite: Ph impact?

I put a 2” layer of super chunky #4 perlite at the bottom of my pots for drainage and aeration. Could that layer of perlite at the bottom Impact my soil PH late in the grow when roots are packing around the perlite chunks at the bottom of the pot late in the grow? I dont have any major issues but dont see anyone adding Extra drainage material for soil grows.

i do it too with finer perlite and basket net , stops gnats getting in , was no problem, some people grow in just perlite soilless or soil ? either way i cant see a problem as its used for every thing it has natural ph,

i would also think it would help to not over water , like a wick but at the bottom , another reason i like to do it ( maybe im wrong ) , thick coco/perlite bottom ( just use bigger pots)
