Greetings all. I noticed a fungus gnat infestation 4 days ago, and started by placing bowls of beer and wine vinegar next to the plants (did not have wine or apple cider vinegar), but only one gnat caught. I followed up by making a spray of 5 % dishwashing liquid, and 2 drops each of cedarwood and rosemary essential oils in water, to spray leaves and soil surface. I got rid of excess water drainage, and held back on watering. The problem remained and I could not get hold of diatomaceous earth or bascillus over the Easter weekend, so I took drastic measures. I gently loosened the plants and freed the roots, turned the soil medium and repotted. The soil was still cool and slightly damp, so I held back on watering some more. After a particularly heavy wind through the night, the soil was good but my exodus cheese plant in early to mid bloom, has browning pistils this morning. I have watered the growing medium (about a large mug of organic nute solution to the large pot). Do the browning pistils indicate a problem, or will she be able to recover?

Dont spray buds with anything in flower.
Get yellow sticky traps and place around plants, let medium dry out a bit more often and to control gnats you spray top of the medium...not the plant.

Mate the damage is probably done.... But there is always hope...!
They might just bounce back.
Just keep liquids off flowers in future.
How bad are the gnats? If only a few the traps will sort them.
Root drench with bacillius works best.

Fungas Gnats lay eggs in the top 3cm of coco, or around drain holes, larvae form in coco eat roots, hatch into flying adult.
They actually spread fungus, hence the name.

Dont use hokey home remedies, ask here... Heaps of idiots out there....
At least here they will give good advice.

hahaha, yes I tend to avoid hokey home remedies too, but I was a bit desperate, and you are correct, there is a lot of conflicting advice out there.... Ouch to the damage! I have seen the gnats at the drainage holes and on the soil surface. There seems to have been an improvement ( three days ago when I shook the plants, a cloud of gnats ascended, and that is no longer the situation, but who knows what is inside the medium. I will monitor pistils over the next few days and during the week I will get the bascillus

Those particular pistils aren't coming back, but there will be plenty of new ones to take their place-
I really hate to even mention this....but that's what pistils do when they've been pollinated....
so hopefully the wind just dried them out or something...

The plants are getting worse, sadly. We have had three days of high wind and even with doors and windows closed it gets in. I think I killed my plants. I wish I hadn't re-potted them. I should have just waited until all the dumb holidays are over and bought bascillus. I am so sad because it's my first grow and they were doing so well. I hope new pistils grow :) I think I have caused the damage, rather than fertilization. It was an overnight thing

She'll bounce back-cannabis are some real tough plants-she might pause for a few days, but she'll be back
to growing again real soon.:)

Hey folks. My plants are still alive but I am concerned that the damage is too severe for recovery. How long would it take for the girls to make new pistils? Here are a couple of photos to show the severity of the damage to date. Also, I think I might be growing in coco but I am not sure. I bought the medium from a specialist store, who recommended the medium as the preferred potting medium, but rookie here didn't get a name.

If you are in coco, make a batch of ph 6 and flush the pots, no nutes, nothing.
Get all that stuff you tipped in there before out. The top bud looks like its bouncing back. Anything that gets a couple white pistils come up on it is a sign of life.
After you see the plants start to look better and perk up, then you can feed again. Coco, use coco nutes or teas but normal garden store fertilizer has too much salt.

Also, you need to give her a little time if you've damaged her-the damage will show up quickly
but recovery from the damage takes a bit more time than she's had so far...
@Lowrider72 is right, she's showing signs of recovery, but it's going to take awhile before she's "good as new"
