Planting, stem depth in soil?

I've got a few potted clones that will soon go outside into the ground. It occurred to me that tomatoes like to be planted very deep, to encourage root growth along the buried stem.

Would cannabis benefit by similar planting or should they be planted in soil at the same level as in their pots?

While not necessary, it does tend to work.

Gardeners have even noticed that side branches which come into prolonged content with the ground can end up growing roots, and covering them with some soil can encourage the behavior. That's actually one method of producing a viable clone, lol. It's not the quickest, but...
