In September 2010 Polish hemp and cannabis activists will start 14-days of marches and gatherings dedicated to all those with a common interest.
Cannabis advocates are demanding the immediate legalization of hemp possession and cultivation as well as an amnesty for prisoners sentenced for the possession and cultivation of cannabis.
Background Information
The Polish government recently presented a legislation proposal which alluded to moving away from the regular 'penalization' route for possession of small amounts of cannabis.
It was an announcement which was initially met with great public enthusiasm.
But today the whole governmental proposal looks no better than a poorly implemented Public Relations excercise carefully choreographed to coincide with regional government elections.
Since spring 2010 our FREE HEMP society (Start | Freehempzone ) has presented a citizen's legislation initiative on marihuana.
An initiative with a view to creating a solution for the cannabis problem which has been unsolvable by the polish government during the last decade.
The government says they are attempting to come up with workable solutions. But the Marshal of the Lower Chamber of Parliament blocks our citizen's project from proceeding, tying it up in beaurocracy and red tape.
Free Hemp decided to make a legal challenge to the blockade of common sense, and On 9th September the Polish Supreme Court will consider a complaint against the parliament's speaker in this respect.
And whilst the government attempts to stop actions, we still have the right to gather and march where we want to.
