Police Destroy Indian Hemp Farm

Koforidua, May 13, GNA - The Eastern Regional Police command, on Wednesday destroyed about 20 acres of plant suspected to be Indian hemp in the Boti Forest Reserve in the Yilo Krobo District.

The plant was mixed-cropped with cassava, plantain, cocoyam and maize at a farm located in the middle of the forest reserve.

Chief Inspector Yaw Nketiah-Yeboah, Eastern Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, who disclosed this to GNA, said that the Police had a tip off that some unidentified members of the communities around the forest reserve were cultivating Indian hemp.

He said the Police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police James Nyadedjor destroyed the farm.

Chief Insp. Nketiah-Yeboah appealed to the public to assist the Police in arresting owners of the farm.
