Costa Mesa police found a marijuana grow house with more than 100 plants in various stages of maturity on the East side Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators served a search warrant about 3 p.m. Tuesday at the house in the 2100 block of Elden Avenue and found no one was home. But they did find a garage and one bedroom filled with numerous marijuana plants, police said.

Apparently a neighbor reported some suspicious activity and detectives simply followed up on the tip, police said.

It's a substantial growth, enough to take crime scene investigators nearly three hours to clear the home, police said.

Although no one was found in the home, it does appear that someone lives there on a regular basis, Sgt. Bryan Glass said. One person alone could operate that facility, Glass said.
