Police Raid Licensed Medical Marijuana Grow-Op

Toronto police say a 44-year-old man is facing charges following a raid on a business licensed to produce medical marijuana.

Investigators allege the operation was growing 2,200 more plants that it was authorized to produce.

Police allege excess marijuana, which could be reproduced every two-to-three months, was for the purpose of trafficking.

In a search of the business on Tuesday, officers seized 2,203 marijuana plants, more than 20 kilograms of dry marijuana, growing equipment and cash.

Ping Jiang of Toronto is charged with produce marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime.
