Police on Wednesday night arrested a New Albany couple after seizing more than 130 marijuana plants from their basement.

Cpl. Todd Bailey said a tip led officers to the home of Dale and Rosie Knowles along the 2100 block of Ekin Avenue where they found $50,000 worth of marijuana and several firearms.

Bailey said it took two pick-up trucks to haul the plants from the home back to the police department. Police also seized several pieces of marijuana cultivation equipment.

Dale Knowles, 47, and 48-year-old Rosie Knowles were booked into the Floyd County Jail on charges of selling and manufacturing marijuana as well as maintaining a common nuisance.

Bailey said it’s possible the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office could enhance the charges as the home was within 1000 of Silver Creek Elementary School.

Bailey said in his 15 years of police work, he’s not seen a marijuana bust as big as this one, but he does not believe it is NAPD’s largest.
