Tuolumne County drug enforcement officers discovered and destroyed a marijuana garden Tuesday morning in the Stanislaus National Forest.

Tuolumne Narcotics Team members and U.S. Forest Service enforcement officers found the pot-growing operation in the Big Creek Basin area near Highway 120. According to narcotics team member Detective Jarrod Pippin, authorities found 2,602 plants, ranging in height from 12 to 20 inches.

If left to mature, Pippin said, the plants would've produced a million-dollar price tag. The garden was spotted from above earlier this summer during an aircraft flyover.

No one was found near the scene and no suspects have been identified.
