PotChimp's Grandaddy Purple Soilless Grow

Plants are looking very healthy, PotChimp. Can't wait to see how they grow. Purple colors will come through if it is in the genetic. With the low temp can activate and bring out more purple. Experienced my first purple plant and only had the temp at 75F, it show up late so maybe you have to wait near finishing time. Have not flower out GDP myself, so it may vary on color vs temp. However, bud colors are only for bag appeal don't stress too much on it. The effect is what keeps others from asking more of the strain. Looking forward to the bud poRn.

Thanks, Twelve12. Yeah, I'm not usually a bag appeal kind of a chimp, but I was hoping for some on this particular grow. I just had to cull an original Flo plant the other day that looked like it would have had some nice purples come out in the end. I want to regrow that strain.
I didn't have much luck in the seedling/veg stages with GLR on this particular strain, but then again it could have something to do with the problems this batch of seeds are having (if you've noticed some of the weird leaves I'm getting in the pics and the differences in growth and appearance of the plants). This strain seems to be a slow starter anyway.
The other grow I'm doing now (Quasar, Ultimate, Warlock, minus 1 Flo now) has been into flower for about 4-5 weeks now and did great under GLR. I am leaning towards 12/12 continuous for all grows unless the strain can't handle the schedule (or the plant flowers out too small), in which case I'll use GLR to veg them.
Thanks for posting the GLR info Twelve12; it'll probably save me a few bananas on my utility bill.....

Yea I am in the beginning of week 6 and the leaves are starting to turn... slowly but surely...

I'll try to keep an eye on your grow; I want to see those colors as close to real life as I can get. Maybe I'll try 50 - 55 degree RO water in between feedings when that time comes. Hmmm. Maybe a little purple food coloring and a few drops of glow-in-the-dark..... just kidding.

Flowering - Day 5

Looks like it's changing over.

I supercropped every little branch on this 1024 hermie that looked like it was going to grow higher than the rest of them.

It's looking pretty even so far and hopefully the trellis won't even be needed.

Nah, on a serious note!!! I am going to be placing ice in the water at the week 7 ending flush and keep frozen 2 liter bottles in the fans pathway to get the temps to drop even more!!!

My second grow was all fem, and the 1024 I was growing hermied on me. The closet I'm using doesn't leave me much room to move around because it's behind a wall, so I can't take plants out to inspect. By looks, I'm going to rule out the mother being Lucy or TNT Kush, which were in the closet also (unfortunately, I mixed all the seeds), so I think the mother is either 1024 (selfed), Mazar x White Rhino, or Skunk #1.
I was looking through a grow book that described differences in appearance of seeds according to strain. Out of curiousity I pulled my seeds from this grow to have a look and I found a weird seed that was joined with a second seed at the base. The second seed didn't develop, and I just germed the thing to see if it would live.

Not a bad idea. I was thinking once of putting a few of those freezer ice packs in front of the passive air intake for this closet when the time comes, but I don't think my closet is airtight enough to draw in the cooler temps.

i like growing out the freaky plants as much as i do the top notch genetics just because its interesting and you never know what crazy trait you may get, i have a seed from my trailor trash strain thats almost double the size of the normal seeds, and it has a v in the center a Siamese twin looking thing, looking fwd to see what it does,i'll prolly germ it next round, my purple #!s start turning purple at the beginning of flower regardless of temp, pretty cool i think, but for the cooler temps im lucky in that its easy for me all i have to do is turn down or off the space heater and it will get as cold as i need!, all the seed i get from TT is fem cuz it always has a few bananas and gives me 20-50 seeds per plant, i have actually bread this as much as i can into it ,throwing out the ones that herm to heavily, it seems to have gotten pretty consistent , all done out of lack of options (seeds) and laziness, figure if i can get it to all the work why not? lol sorry to babble on n on just find your freaky plants interesting, i see lots of similar this to what i have seen w/TT, but you have a much better basic strain . ok later on bruh

Used the paper towel method and it opened up the next day. Because it was genetically off, it grew stunted. Hell even though I topped and pruned it a lot, it's still small. I'll smoke on it, though.....

Note : Gave all the plants the Bloom dosage of Farmer's Pride nutes today with 1 tsp. Cal-Mag. I don't know how long before I'll see hairs, but it should be soon. The plants are really evening up nice; I hope they keep an even canopy like that when they flower out. The stems are show a little purple coloring.

I'm starting to get a second opinion on this 1024 cross. It didn't look like it could be half Lucy or TNT Kush, but now the looks are starting to change.

As long as I get high off it I could give a rat's behind what it is.....

Hey potchimp man!

Looking good mate. That 1024 looks like its a bit iron(Fe) deficient. I know this as my TD did this for a while. As long as pH is ok. Give it a water and allow runoff then wait till that drink then feed with a food that has Fe in it. Worked for me.

Rest looks good though. Hope they go Purp for you!

Note : I gave a gallon of RO water w/ 1 tablespoon molasses and Cal-Mag to all the plants; some needed it a little more than others although none were really dry. A few more hairs are starting to show. Post more pics as soon as it looks like weed.
