Protest Pushes For Medical Marijuana Law

A protest in Binghamton pushes for pot to be legalized in New York.

Supporters took to Hawley Street in Binghamton Saturday.

They say patients should have the option to use medical marijuana.

And they want the state to pass legislation.

Organizer Jason Richardson fractured his skull four years ago and says he often suffers from severe migraines.

He wishes he could use marijuana to ease the pain.

15 states in the US, including California and New Jersey allow medical marijuana.

Organizers say New York should follow suit.

"New York's a pretty liberal state, it's time for us to catch up with everybody else and give people a choice," says Richardson.

The group plans to hold another peaceful protest next Saturday from noon until 4:20 pm in downtown Binghamton.
