Punch The Cake: Mars RDWC

Hello everyone,

I am growing 4 punch the cake plants. Today marks 3 week since they’ve been in hydro. I am using general hydroponics flora series 10 part system. I have like 2 gallons of hydroguard that I forgot I had. I’m about to start adding that in too.

They’re in a 5x5 tent living in Current Culture hydroponics system under Mars FC6500 led lights. I also have 6 qb96elites under 3 hlg 320h 54a drivers not in use right now. I plan on adding 4 of them in between my bars on my Mars light.

Right now I’m at 640 ppm and 6.0 pH. My water stays between 68-70 degrees with my water chiller. I use an RO system for my water. Also have a trash can as a reservoir. Am using an intake fan for added air flow with an exhaust fan into my carbon filter.

Thanks for stopping by!

So I just retied everything down. Do you guys think I should set up my scrog netting I have 2 sets. I’m thinking to give it another week but I normally introduce the scrog to late and it’s a pain to weave everything through. Am I too early?

Also should I start removing the lower stuff? Or let them grow a little more before I start trimming the stuff below the light line?

I just changed out my nutrients for the week hence the low water in the root pic. I am currently at 880ppm and 5.9 pH on this new weeks nutes. I also did add in the hydroguard I forgot I had.

Amazing setup my friend @BB0420
I'm not a hydro guy at the moment. ;)
But I'd love to tag along and learn. :thumb:
Not a trellis person either but I know a smart one who does dwc.
@Rexer when you get a sec can you advise us on trellis height.
Thanks
I don't prune especially smaller girls.
Lollipop before harvest at most
Just my method.

Thanks bill! I appreciate the post. @Rexer and I have been going back and forth on a previous thread of mine where I thought I had an issue with these babies. I decided to make a grow journal for this strain. I feel like she’s going to produce well!

I love the trellis netting great for my small 5x5 tent space to maximize it. Yeah about half way through veg once the trellis are set up I’ll remove everything below the light line. I just didn’t know if I should get started on that sooner or let the plant develop a little more. As stated above to I feel like I always bring the trellis in later than I should’ve.

To be honest, I've only used it twice, and guessed luckily both times. @Tokin Roll has done a few write ups on it, and that's the most recent thing that comes to mind for write ups on it.

@Tokin Roll appreciate the response

It is a heavy indica and works well with scrog and lst. Flower timeline is 9-10 weeks per the seeds. I plan on holding out until I think it’s ready. As for veg I am on week 4 nutes for veg. I plan to veg another 4 weeks or whenever I’ve successfully created my canopy. Do you think I should lower my ppms? Last week was at 640ppm and now 880ppm.

Also I feel like my plants are showing excess in cal and mag.

Take a look at my last grow some white window. I want a better canopy, better yield and better bud. I had 17oz dry but had some issues in veg and was in veg way to look to achieve that canopy.

Here are some current pics maybe you’ll agree with what I’m seeing. Burnt tips, dark green ends. Maybe I am wrong. They were feeding last week they drank about a quarter inch out of my reservoir whether that’s sufficient enough at this stage of the game is another question.

I feel as if I’m better at maintaining everything towards the end of veg, all of flower, drying out, trimming and curing. From seedlings to end of veg I struggle I’m noticing. I’m trying to work out the kinks still on that.

Okay, let me breakdown what I am seeing.

I feel like my plants are showing excess in cal and mag.
What you are seeing is the plant telling you to back off on your nutrients.

Do you think I should lower my ppms? Last week was at 640ppm and now 880ppm.
If you are going to do a 8 week veg, and your are half way there, you're ppm's should be 500 -600 at most.

Start at 500 ppm's and by the end of veg be at 600.

This will tells us if she needs more or less nutrients, or she happy.

Burnt tips, dark green ends.
The tip burn is from the excessive nutrient, dark green leaves are sign of too much nitrogen.

Hope this helps.

Tok..

A small break like that, I'd use a small amount of a stiff wire for a splint and some tape. She'd heal right up and develop a knuckle there.
Don't beat yourself up over it- happens to the best growers I've seen on here. And in the end, the plant will redistribute the energy to other bud sights with very minimal loss (or no loss).

Welp snapped off a decent branch ‍♂️ Thought about taping it on there but i haven’t had much success doing it in the past.

Had the same thing happen to Me the other night with the last lady being Main-lined… I Just grabbed the first aid kit and some gloves and performed my very first emergency open Stem stem surgery. If you’ve failed in the past at doing it, let those experiences help guide your actions if or when it ever happen again! #HappyGrowing and #HeavyHarvest

S/N: She’s recovering just fine! After the operation, I sprinkled a lil Great White on her and top fed her some ph’d 6.0 RO water. Just so happen it was 30 minutes before lights out.. said my goodnights…. And the next morning…She was standing strong!

Haven’t posted on here in awhile. I’ve been super busy with my business that I’ve had little time to much more than nutrient Change outs. I wish I spent more time on them and keeping up trimming the lower stuff below the light line. I just trimmed a lot over the past 4 days and there’s still a crap load to go. I’ll probably leave the rest.

Im switching over to flower on Sunday. Overall maintaining pH and water temps like usual. The growth has been crazy on the 1 plant. The other 3 are on the same level as each other and the 1 is almost double in size. I though about taking a clone off her before I flip. I’m just new to clones and all that I have huge rock wool cubes but I just don’t know the process in trimming the roots to keep them in the same cube for a year or so.

A little worried about room honestly think I’m going to run out of light space with this 1 plant. My plants are 35” and I only have 35” left in space to the top which doesn’t account for light space.

Anyway they are moving along!!
