Purple Strains

There used to be a time that purple was rather rare in marijuana plants. Even as it became more prevalent the THC content was lower then their green cousins. Now it seems purple is everywhere. THC content has improved over the years. Now there are truly great purple strains. One of the stronger strains I grow is a purple strain. Most pheno's are green or a mix of purple colors. One though starts early. Soon after it starts flowering the plant starts turning purple. You don't see many purple plants through their growth cycle. I think the reason why is they are damn hard to photograph. I'm going to try and keep up with pics of this plant through flower. Here are a few early ones.

I think the only purple strain I've got is a Dark Devil Auto. Most of the purple strains I've noticed seem to be Indica but I'd love to find a more Sativa/energetic purple strain to cross. Are there Sativa/energetic purple strains out there?

Purple haze is a sativa dom purp strain but I've never smoked it purple dream is a hybrid but I got a really energetic high from this strain.

Lots of Purple out there now. The old Purple Haze is probably the best known Purple sativa. Though more and more are showing at least some king of purple. I can't name any sativa dom. ones but there are lots of hybrids with the same effects.

Anthocyanin is a pheno that makes cannabis have blues or purple hues

Cool didn't know that Pirategrower. I know enough about the technical side of marijuana to get me in trouble lol. Here is a little I do know about Purple in marijuana. I don't know how to spell the most important word in this so bare with me please. There are 3 different anoles that carry purple. 1 shows it in the buds themselves, 1 shows purple on the top of the leaves, 1 shows it on the bottom. Some of these colors come even without cold temps. Lots of strains have at least one of these anoles weather it shows or not. Others will have 2.......................
Certain phenos of the purple strain I grow have all 3 anoles of purple. All show with regulars temperatures. Which is rare. There are only 4 major anoles to a marijuana plant. 1 of these anoles has to be green or the plant will not have enough chlorophyll for growth. Finding all these traits in one strain that is powerful and also produces is hard. That is why for years purple strains couldn't keep up with their green cousins. Some where powerful, all tasted great but few produced well. Low production and long grow times is the main reason Purple Urkle prices sky rocketed like they did back in the day. Now days we have Granddaddy Purple and a few purple strains that can do it all.

Sweet Seeds has a few of the red/purple/black varieties. Most of them are autos though.
I've had their Dark Devil, and Bloody Skunk. Both are very nice.

Final product was all Purple. The only green is in the stem. This is by far my most purple I have ever got in buds. Here are a few pics. Also included in these pics is the sap this plant produced.
