A recent Wagoner County Sheriff candidate arrested Wednesday during the execution of a drug search warrant is jailed in lieu of $5,000 bond.
Patricia Masker, a former dispatcher for the sheriff’s office, was jailed on her 48th birthday. She and her son, Joshua Denison, 27, were arrested at their residence in the Long Bay area, east of Wagoner, said Wagoner County Undersheriff Mark Day.
A friend of Denison’s, Kermit Troxel, 22, was arrested at another location.
Officers said they had to retrieve marijuana Denison was trying to flush down a stool, Day said. Masker allegedly had stalled officers and tried to tell them her son was not at the residence.
Law enforcement officers had watched marijuana they believed Denison and Troxel were growing before Troxel allegedly harvested it and took it to the residence where Masker and Denison lived, Day said.
Masker was booked into Wagoner County Jail before noon for obstruction of an officer in performance of his duty, providing false information to a police officer and conspiracy to commit a felony, a jail booking officer said.
Denison was arrested on possession of marijuana and cultivation of marijuana. He remained jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond. Troxel is jailed in lieu of $20,000 bond for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, jail officials said.
District Attorney Jerry Moore’s District 27 Drug Task Force, along with the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the raid on the residence between 9 and 9:30 a.m., Day said. The task force is made up of law enforcement from Adair, Cherokee, Wagoner and Sequoyah counties.
Masker was a Republican candidate for sheriff in the June primary against Bob Colbert, who defeated Masker 2,408 to 483.
