Reducing fan speed

Hi all,

I have an iso max 315 low (puts out 2381 m3/h). Imy only growing 1 plant and want to put a cheaper carbon filter on / one designed for a smaller flow rate fan.
Anyone know if either of these would work to slow the fan down to about 50%?
I would get a smaller fan, yet I got this fan cheap and a smaller one would actually cost me more.

You can get a controller for around $20
The smaller fillter might cause your motor to run hot trying to pull the air through

Humm didn't think of that, I think I've seen smaller fans using 12' filters... I thought it would be easier on the motor because it's at 50%, but I see what you mean
