Dr Ron Paul is my Congressman. I have the honor of voting for him every 2 yrs. I voted for him twice in 2008, I wrote him in on the Presidential ballot.
His speaking skills suffer when he's under the pressure of a time limit, like in debates and TV interviews. I know what he's saying, but for those that are new to some of his knowledge, it can be confusing.
I was at the original Tea Party (no, not the original, original one in 1773) I mean the one in Dec of 2007. The one that kicked off the Tea Party movement, before it got hi-jacked by Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, et al.
He's a great American. He has not "sold his soul" like so many others have, once they are in office. And , he's been warning of a fiscal meltdown for many years.

Had hope for Obama ,but he turned out to be one of them.He has made some changes so I still like to believe it's possibly.I like Ron Paul though he would be like a virus to their system that they have created and they won't let that happen if it was really up to the people their wouldn't be a drug war,or the three other wars we in now.

Curious for the Ron paul supporters, How can Ron overcome the weighty resistance of the republican party to a voice of sanity and actual small government?

No the media and repub party are hoping Ron Paul isn't taken seriously but then they didn't feel the tea party had any chance until after the election.
I am not sure if I will vote for him or not.
I agree with his votes on issues pertaining to not allowing certain federal funds to be used to prosecute those who grow cannabis legally under their states' medicinal cannabis laws. But part of me understands that there is a larger issue involved, that of the fact that the federal government had/has no business placing cannabis on the list of controlled substances - at the very least, to have categorized it as a Schedule I substance - in the first place (for a variety of reasons including the fact that the entire premise that cannabis has NO medicinal value is a blatant lie and the fact that it does not fall under one of the federal powers that were clearly defined in the US Constitution and therefore is a state issue not a federal one). At some point, the illegal federal stance on cannabis needs to be addressed and I feel that it will be addressed in court.
I agree with some of his business-related votes - but disagree on several others, including some of his oil and other energy-related ones.
I disagree with several of his environment-related issues, including - but not limited to - some of the ones that concern both the environment and business.
I have not yet completely researched the language used in all of the things that he has voted for, voted against, and refrained from voting on. I will not be sure of how I will vote until I can do so and do the same for all other candidates. I WILL vote for someone and will attempt to vote for the one who offers the most hope for the future - and not just my future - with the record of causing the least amount of overall harm. I hope that I will in good conscience be able to vote for the candidate that appears to be the most "cannabis-friendly" (or at least the least unfriendly). But I understand that cannabis is but one of MANY issues.
I find that I strongly disagree with his stance on not raising taxes. I might be in the minority here (I find that unfortunate). But... We are 14 trillion dollars in debt! As a comment by someone at another (non-cannabis) site I happened across put it, "Even if the entire federal government shut down, sent every single employee home permanently with no pay, canceled every single government service and agency across the board and every American citizen continued to pay his/her taxes at the current rates & they were then spent on NOTHING except for paying off our debt... It would still take 20 years to do so." (That is, of course, if our debt-holders do not decide to "foreclose" before it is paid.) Now I realize that a country cannot exist without a national government and that therefore a large portion of our taxes must needs go to things other than paying off our debt - which makes that theoritical 20-year figure an impossibility. I completely agree that we need to make some serious changes as to where our tax dollars go. But I also KNOW that we need to raise taxes as much as possible in order to (as the commenter put it) buy our country back. When I was a kid and we got hit with high debt, my family cut out ALL unnecessary spending and worked harder/more to bring in the income that was needed to pay off that debt. It's what you do. Well, it's what you used to do - and what you should still do.
I can imagine what would have happened if Mom - who did the family budget - had announced that we were deep in debt and Dad had replied, "Well, I'm not going to work any harder. In fact, I'm going to take some time off because, hey, I deserve a break." I can barely imagine it, actually, because they were never violent and had Pop made such a statement, Mom would have slugged him with our cast-iron skillet and us kids would have visited him on the hilltop. And laid flowers upon his grave.

BtW, you can check out Ron Paul's (and others') voting record and decide if you agree with his actions, read his speeches and public for the last 14½ years and see if they agree with his voting record, et cetera at this site:

Everyone should check out the candidates' past history (just like you should when deciding how to cast your vote in our Member of the Month contest, lol). Don't just listen to his campaign promises (and do not assume that those only start when a candidate actually files to run for a particular office) and what other people are saying. Do the research. It's your country and you are deciding who gets to run it (along with all the other politicians you will be electing)!

The government doesn't need to be stopped, but what needs to be changed is our politicians need to accept that we can't be the world police or feed the world while we screw over our own citizens.

The response from active voters who become more numerous in support of Paul would cause the GOP to submit. The Democrats despise Paul because in reality, he represents what they falsely claim to represent. Both parties have become a prostitute collective to globalism (i.e. World Bank, World Trade Organization, etc.). If they can rally the political, monetary, religious, and educational dynasties to comply with the power of money, that alone should be evidence of the big con game placed upon the citizenry. The principles of individual freedom and liberty this country was founded upon are not negotiable to a masqueraded national government submitting to international laws in my opinion. They have both moved to the far left despite the shrill complaints from the misinformed about "the right wing". Expanding government control over industry, economy, progressive taxation, progressive legislation contradictory of our Constitution and our individual rights reeks of Marxism. Something Hitler wasn't far from either since national socialism was merely socialism with nationalized industry. He claimed he was opposed to communism simply because the Bolshevik Revolution was fresh in the minds of Germans before WW2. Tyranny is tyranny no matter how government authorities try to repackage it and sell it. Excuse the rant. Today's politicians and the clowns who eat what they are fed just really annoy me.

The dope ridin' on hope speaks. The lies are so numerous it is hard to remember them all in the span of four years. Bush and Obama had two main things in common; fiscal and corporate socialism plus open borders. Thanks for that one little cut I never saw, onPOT. One need only look at California to see what the Democrat plan is. Not much different than mainstream Repubs with the exception of Paul. Billions for the bankers and debts for the people. Nobama 2012!! Ron Paul 2012!
